Hugh Turner
17:00: South Court(behind Broad Street Mall) MAIN STAGE - FREE - OUTSIDE INSIDE FESTIVAL 2010
Hugh Turner started playing guitar at age 11 and by 13 he was playing with his brothers blues band in pubs and clubs around his native Reading. At 16 he had already started teaching and had discovered jazz, first studying under Cedric West, the acclaimed Burmese jazz guitarist; and later John Etheridge and Dave Cliff, Britain's finest bebop guitar player. Graduating in jazz rock and classical guitar from North London University at age 19, Hugh played in all the London and the South-East's jazz clubs with his already formed jazz trio.
During the next few years he continued with his jazz performances but also concentrated on composition. Pop session work, touring and many dance-music recording sessions kept him off the streets. In 1995 Hugh co-founded 'Jazz Upstairs', a club showcasing the best of British Jazz. Alan Barnes, Jon Gee, Jay Denson, Theo Travis and Dave Cliff all visited the club with the great house rhythm section of Andy Crowdy (acc. bass) and Simon Price (drums).Around this time he formed Funk Assembly and started the JW's residency, featuring among others, Brandon Allen (alto), Dennis Rollins (trombone), Brian Edwards (alto) and Andy Gangadeen (drums).
Amy's Ghost

Amys Ghost are a multi-talented band from Reading fronted by singer/songwriter Amy Barton, who formed after entering an exciting musical project together, Dance of defeat. Combining a no holds barred attitude and a mutual craving to produce original music, this selection of personalities made the natural evolution into a live act.
Creating moments of beauty and fragility contrasting with tribal rhythms, filthy bass and mesmerizing sample loops, their sound dynamically achieves all this while still producing classic original songs. What Amys Ghost delivers on record, they exceed in their highly visual live performances. Drawn in to the bands compulsive energy, many ears become one, the watchers standing unified like some entranced collective.

THE QUOTES FESTIVAL PARTY
From day one, Reading four-piece The Quotes have attracted media attention, and their constant gigging and prestigious festival appearances not to mention album and EP releases have earned them a well-established fan base. Their epic, sexy and polished rock sound has caught the inspiration of many a radio DJ, promoter and most importantly music fan.
2009 began with a string of European dates and has seen the band play support slots for Hockey, The Charlatans and Goldie Lookin Chain as well as at five major festivals in the South East. Consistent coverage in the local press as well as considerable air time and radio appearances thanks to BBC Berkshire, BBC London and BBC 6, and KROQ in California have helped raise The Quotes profile over the last year, and with professional representation and an eager street team the only way is up.
The bands ferocious sound and slick execution defies their years. In July 2009, at the centre of a storm of curiosity, excitement and anticipation, The Quotes released The Monte Rosa EP with two sold-out nights at one of their hometowns best established music venues. An enormous achievement for an unsigned band but yet another great credit to these four vastly talented young musicians.
The band will bring their set along with a host of indie/ rock covers to warm up the festival crowd, ready for a good ol P&P knees up!

AMY'S GHOST CURATE
12:00 - 2:00 O'Neils - ALL DAYER - FREE - OUTSIDE INSIDE FESTIVAL 2010
Local act, Amy's Ghost, will be taking over O'Neils for a day of their own curation.
Trombosis
O' Neils
After a chance meeting on a Sheffield hill side, and a couple of twirls round a full-sized snooker table - Trombosis was born. The four main protagonists: Big Bob Joylove, Rip Jermyn, Bubba Lincoln III and Pablo Gilberto were drawn together by their love of the eclectic and mixed up musical influences - a primeval soup of the hard, soft, smooth and caustic.

URBAN PITCHER DRAWN
The Pitcher & Piano, renowned for music in this town for over 5 years. When they first put the Ding Dong Daddios into their residency, there wasn;t alot else going on live music wise in Reading. There was no Oakford, there wa no Sub, Deja Vu was a sports bar, most venues didn;t believe in the success of live music. So we use the Outside:Inside Festival and its ethos, to thank the forward thinking bar/ venue. Many think its just a suit bar...then why would they be so forward thinking all those years ago. Without them, we would not be having this celebration of culture in Reading. This thursday they bring down 2 of Londons most happening acts, bringing funk, soul and hip hop into this vibrant venue. DJ support comes from Ibetya, with his bag of funk/hip hop mash ups

CATS AND CRIMINALS
Beginning in their collectively adopted hometown of Kingston, Cats and Criminals were united by a common goal. Six men who like to see people dance made a pact to create a sound that would raise even the most downhearted to their feet and dance as one people united in funk and the spirit of the party. Link.
