Here you will find issues, both current and past, of PetFleet's Newsletter, Paws to the Stars. You will also find our Pet Facts column that will appear in the Communique as well as any other PetFleet Columns.

Here you will find the galleries of the PetFleet members. Each member has it's own web card in it's species gallery.

Your PetFleet membership includes a PetFleet membership certificate and id card, subscription to the newsletter Paws to the Stars and invite to the PetFleet email list.

Paws to the Stars and the STARFLEET Communique are the two anvenues that PetFleet members have to spread the joys, happieness and adventures that our pet friends bring us. Also not to be left out but our Chapter Mascots have some adventures to share from time to time as well.

PetFleet has been a program in STARFLEET for quite a few years now, and yet many in our organization really do not know why it exists.

In essence the program is a way to say thank you to our pets for what they give us. This thank you is expressed in the form of a special membership in STARFLEET, so that together you may enjoy the STARFLEET experience more fully. If you do not have a pet as a companion, this relationship might be a little hard to understand. So the best way to help bridge this gap is to outline what exactly a pet does for their owner and perhaps will help us all to embrace this program as a feel good opportunity to enhance the membership experience.

There are three basic reasons why we should say Thank You to our pets:

1) Pets can improve your mood.

Has there been a time when you were feeling sad and wanted to be alone, but then a cat rubs up against you and then suddenly you felt not so sad after all? They look cute and their loving eyes make you forget all your negative emotions. Recent studies have shown that people with AIDS are less likely to suffer from depression if they have a pet. It's almost impossible to stay in a bad mood when you see the eyes of a cute puppy dog wagging its tail saying scratch me please!!!!

2) Pets provide unconditional love.

Pets if they are properly cared for, offer unconditional love and companionship. They will always be there to give support. Pets can also enjoy moments of silence with you, and keep your secrets. Pets know who you really are and love you unconditionally. Sadly, what is hard to find in Human beings can be found with our pets.

3) Pets actually encourage you to exercise.

Research shows that urban dog owners spend more time walking and moving compared to non-dog owners. Pets can help take away some of the resistance to exercising if you know you have a happy partner.

The relationship between a pet and its owner is a special one. There is a bond that is developed and should be respected. PetFleet is the program that recognizes this and allows our members to say that special Thank you. May all of us in STARFLEET smile in appreciation to these special Members who give so much and ask for so little in return!

ANIMAL EMERGENCIES:

As summer comes to a close, every pet parent needs to realize there are still dangers lurking inside of the home. We have to be aware whats happening with our beloved pets and keep them safe from harm.

There are many dangers to the pets inside the home like household chemicals. Some of these are bleach, furniture polish, dish detergent. These items may cause anything from surface burns, burns in the mouth and if ingested they can cause serious injury to the pet. If not caught in time the chemicals can do irreversible damage to the pets stomach, liver and kidneys.

If you do suspect your pet had gotten into any household chemical DO NOT induce vomiting, this may cause more damage as the chemical come back up through the throat.

There is a few things you can do:

1.Make sure the airway is open and nothing is blocking it,

2.Be sure to calmly talk to your pet and keep them as calm as possible,

3.Get to a veterinarian ASAP,

4.If you do know the brand and type of chemical the pet has ingested, be sure to bring it to veterinarian when you do arrive so they know what they are dealing with.

There is a pet poison control number through the ASPCA: (888) 426-4435. It is staffed 365 days a year 24/7. There may be a fee attached to the phone call of $65.00.

These are just tips if your pet comes in contact with any household chemical. Make sure you keep you cleaners, detergents and polishers out of sight and reach of your pet.

As with any pet emergency contact your Veterinarian immediately!

How can I register my pet or mascot for PetFleet?

There are multiple ways to sign-up your pet or mascot for PetFleet.

SIGN-UP TODAY

What do I get with my PetFleet Membership?

Once your PetFleet membership is processed you will recieve via email a PetFleet membership certificate and membership card. Both are designed for easy printing if you wish. Your PetFleet member will be added to our PetFleet roster and a digital profile page on the PetFleet website. Also, you will recieve the newsletter, Paws to the Stars, (available through the PetFleet email is) and an invitation to join the PetFleet email list to share your PetFleet members adventures with other members. All of that for $1 annually.

Since all membership materials are handled electronically all monies recieved into PetFleet is donated once a year to an animal related charity. You, the members of PetFleet will be polled and get to vote on which charity the donation goes to.

Signing your pet or mascot up for PetFleet is easy!

We have made joining PetFleet as easy as 1, 2, 3!

You can click on a couple buttons fill out a form online and click submit or

You want to print out the application and mail it it or

You can even do a hybird version were you submit your application electronically but mail in payment!

All 3 are simple and easy!!

Online

Mail-In

You can completely register your pet or mascot online. You never have to touch a stamp or write a check. PetFleet, just like STARFLEET accepts online payments from PayPal and Credit Cards (through our PayPal).

To start the process click on the member type in the Payment box below. Choose which type of pet or mascot you have. For mascots please pick other.

Once you have choosen you member type then enter your pet or mascots name.

Once you have both the member type and name click on the submit button. The screen should change to the PayPal interface. From here you can use your PayPal account or enter your Credit Card number.

Now that you payment has been submit you need to submit your application. Remember to include your PayPal transaction ID on your application. Once you complete the application click the submit button at the bottom. (the application will download to your computer for you to fill out and submit)

You will be asked to type in your email and name for the email to be sent and then click send.

THAT'S IT! Now sit back and wait for your pet or mascots digital membership certificate and card to be emailed to you.

Not the best with computers or you dont like giving out your credit card information on the internet? Well you dont have to.

Click on the application button below. A PDF file will download (with your permission) to your computer.

Fill out the application below including the check/money order number and click print. Your completed application will be printed out for you on your home computer. (the application will download to your computer for you to fill out and submit)

Once printed send in that application and that check/money order.

Hybrid option

For those that want the best of both worlds here you go!
