The name 1Drop Studios was chosen because all music has starting point and that starts on the ONE. The principles believe in striving to achieve quality in all aspects of sound production, engineering, Artist Development.
As music and media of all forms continues to grow at an exponential rate, access to recording studios is quickly becoming a necessity for the music industry. 1Drop Studios provides recording artists and musicians with quality sound recording. Pookie Jay Born in Louisville Ky. 1972. The youngest of nine siblings, this west end native was born with the love of music. Growing up in a family with older siblings that listened and played music daily it was hard not to love it or be involved with it. In 1987 he started his music exploration by playing music for different house parties and other social functions locally. Hip Hop music hit hard in the 80s and so did his love for it. He started a rap group called the Devastation Crew in 1988 and made beats with a Casio keyboard that was giving as a gift. In 1990 he graduated from High School and signed with a local group called OvaDose. Working with this group provided the first taste of what it is like to work in the big studios. While working with this new group he went to school for an Associates Degree in electronic engineering. Although the group wasnt successful, he gained a lot of recording and mixing experience. In 1992 he graduated with a degree and with two of the five members from the former group, formed a new group called Darkside. Darkside performed and opened for several concerts headlined by The Two Live Crew. An A&R/ executive producer for Luke Skywalker Records showed extreme interest for signing Darkside to the label but proper budget expenses couldnt be negotiated between the label and management. In 1996 Darkside dis-banded and he began producing and engineering for several different artist and studios locally and all over. In 2002 he established One Drop Studios. One Drop Studios quickly became the number one choice for several local recording artist looking for a professional quality sound at a reasonable price.
