Pwnage Depot will provide an outlet for local PC and console gamers to meet and compete. The business will have a storefront location near Purdue’s campus so that patrons can easily access it on foot. During normal business hours patrons may pay an hourly fee to use any of the PCs or consoles located within the premises. Food and beverages will also be sold. All popular game titles will be available for play in order to attract the widest variety of gamers. Themed tournaments will be held nightly for free playtime or cash prizes.
Target Market
The target market for Pwnage Depot is video game enthusiasts between the ages of 16 and 30 who live on or close to Purdue’s campus. However, due to the nature of gamers the company expects to receive business from those outside that age range.
Why Pwnage Depot?
The video game industry is ever-growing, but many avid gamers cannot afford to keep up with the increasingly-costly PC upgrades required to enjoy new games. Additionally, college students younger than 21 years of age have limited options for entertainment. Furthermore, most gaming competitions are held exclusively in major cities and are therefore expensive to attend. Pwnage Depot will offer access to all new, popular titles on the newest consoles and PCs that can handle the loads required by new games, all for a reasonable price.
Management Teame
Pwnage Depot will be lead by its creator and founder, Adam Black, and will be improved and maintained by his consulting team members Nathan Schinckle and Mohamed El Malik. Adam is a CIT major with 20 years of gaming experience, the 10 most recent being competitive. He is also an avid PC researcher and builder. Nathan is a CIT major who excels in programming and enjoys gaming. Mohamed is a Mechanical Engineering major.
Additional Thoughts/Comments
The Cyber Café industry is virtually untapped due to what the management team believes to be a combination of lack of understanding of the proper target market and its desires, and the right game plan for maximizing profit. The creation of the original storefront is the very beginning, with incredible room for expansion. In addition to being able to open more stores in other prime locations, there is also the possible opportunity to sell custom-built gaming computers to customers who are impressed by what they see and experience in the store. It may even be reasonable to partner with an established game software retailer, such as Gamestop, and locate within close proximity in order to attract additional customers. Furthermore, there are very few national gaming tournaments held each year due to the high costs of advertising and setup required by the managing company. Once established in multiple locations, it would be much simpler for Pwnage Depot to hold local, regional, and national tournaments, utilizing its pre-existing locations, hardware, and software, and targeting its pre-existing customers as primary participants, with added participation from those attracted by the possibility of national competition. Finally, the United States currently lacks a recognizable gaming team/organization. The most famous international team, SK Gaming, is sponsored by AMD, ATI, SteelSeries, and Adidas. There is a possible opportunity for using the best participants in previously-explained gaming tournaments to create a competitive gaming team to compete internationally and vie for sponsorships and the money that comes with them.

Research
Surveys were completed in the presence of the management team and collected immediately after completion. The goal of the surveys was to gain an idea of how viable the idea of a local Cyber Café could be.
Results
The results of this survey and its data have led us to several conclusions:
• The majority of people surveyed were dissatisfied with local entertainment
• Just less than half of the people surveyed do not have a computer powerful enough to handle increasingly hardware intensive games
• Those surveyed are still spending money each week on entertainment
• Console gaming was more popular among those surveyed, by a small margin
• The vast majority of those surveyed usually stay up until midnight or later
• The majority of those surveyed do not prefer to eat while gaming
• Just less than half of those surveyed would be willing to spend $10 for an evening of competitive gaming with the possibility of a cash prize
