I am so excited about beginning a new year at both Harrison Elementary and Wilder Elementary. This year I will be at: HARRISON Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday WILDER Wednesday and Friday (If you are a Wilder parent, Judith Johnson is the counselor on site for Monday and Thursday.) Some of my responsibilities as guidance counselor will include being in your child's classroom twice a month to teach the guidance curriculum. I will also be available for individual counseling. Parents, teachers or students may make an appointment to see me, or parents and teachers may refer a student. Throughout the year I will conduct groups that will deal with various topics. You may request that your child be in a group. (See the Groups tab) My goal as a guidance counselor is to work with parents, teachers, and students to ensure that students receive the highest quality of education and that they are academically and socially successful. As educators we want to instill in our students a love for learning that will last a lifetime.

What you might not know about your Counselor: I am the wife to my wonderful husband, David, mother to eight children and Meme to six grandchildren. Our children range in age from 36 to 10. (If you're curious, just ask.) Our family is very close and we enjoy spending time together. (For family pics just click on the Gallery.) Springfield has always been my home and it is where my educational journey began; first at Williams Elementary, then Reed Middle School, Hillcrest High School and finally Missouri State University. After earning a degree in Elementary Education, I taught a first and second grade classroom and then, a second, third and fourth grade multi-age classroom at Fairbanks Elementary. After teaching for a couple of years, I knew that I wanted to remain in a school setting, but my heart was set on counseling. Upon receiving my Masters in Guidance and Counseling, I started my Counseling career. Counseling was the perfect choice for me. In addition to spending time with my family and working at Harrison and Wilder; I love to sing, cook, take pictures, bike with my husband on our tandem, and watch football. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, our latest family adventure; a raised bed garden. I'm very excited to be starting my second year at both Harrison and Wilder Elementary. I am so blessed to be at two great schools with wonderful staffs and the greatest of students.
