Welcome
The eLearning Centre are putting together series of inspirational learning resources for design and technology teachers. The content, developed by educational consultant AJ Booker, will hopefully support the teaching of innovative and creative lessons in schools.
A new project idea will be added every half term. In this website you will find instructional videos and extensive support materials such as lesson plans and worksheets ready to use in the classroom.

PigBang
PigBang is an activity for KS2-5 exploring the effects of friction, mass and vacuum in order to fire a ‘pig’ as far and as accurately as possible. The Pig is a construction of card or other materials which fits inside a collection of standard plumbing tubes forming a Bazooka. Power is supplied by using a domestic vacuum cleaner to draw the ‘pig’ up the pipe and its inertia propels it out the end. PigBang includes a teacher manual, photos, instructional videos, worksheets and a presentation to use in developing your own activity sessions. These will also available from the Nottingham e-Learning Centres website at www.nelc.net.
The star of this video is the educational consultant AJ Booker.
Here he is introducing the PigBang project and giving further details of how to make the bazooka, make the 'PIG', attach the vacuum cleaner and fire it.
