Oma Mary is a real Oma who makes handmade receiving blankets for babies born in her family, which has been a blessing because large receiving blankets are difficult to find in retail stores.
She passed this skill on to her grand-daughter and together they make beautiful and unique receiving blankets. Oma Mary is also non-profit, as all proceeds from our sales go to making blankets for children in need,
partnering with local organizations who work directly with neglected, abused, traumatized, and impoverished children. When we began searching for creating our own site, we came across Wix and fell in love!
Creating a website through Wix has been an essential part of generating sales and creating a web presence. We love how easy it is and yet allows complete individual freedom and creativity. We could not reach as many people as we do without our site on Wix, especially with a product as unique as ours.

I am starting a new company as a manufacturer agent in the transportation industry. I sell wiring harnesses, lights for trucks, trailers, etc, I sell enclosed trailers, open aluminum trailers and also a new product that just arrived in North America, ultra light weight truck bodies. I am always looking for other lines to complement what I am selling already! I am also developing a network of sales reps across Canada and the USA. My goal is to offer the manufacturer that I represent a window across Canada.
Having a website for my company is of the utmost importance because, manufacturers and sales reps needs to see what my company is all about, it is a place of information, updates, news, etc. It shows the professionalism of my company. It helped me to compete with the big guys at a very low amount. Being a start up company, we don't have a lot of money to start with.
I heard about Wix using Google. I was actually looking for a free website builder and saw a couple but nothing like wix.com. All of the other website builders didn't allow me to create a flash website. There were many limitations.
What was the best about wix.com is that I could build a website myself. What I did first is to create my logo. At first, I couldn't find anyone that would create me a logo for free. So I went on the internet and found a software similar to illustrator that would allow me to create my logo. Then, went on wix.com, started playing with the website. Wrote my text, changed some colors, fonts, added some pages and after 2 days of work, I had a website. Not bad for someone who never touched a website creating software.
The wonderful thing about wix.com is that even if my website has some flash, Google and other web crawling websites can find it. It's only the beginning, I will add more on my website as needs come. Another cool thing is that I can add stuff to it, change things.
I am very happy about my new website and I had very good comments about it. People don't believe me when I tell them that I created this website myself. Now if it could help me to have a presence on the internet, there must be a lot of people out there looking to have a presence on the internet for cheap.

I created the www.jcopenhaver.com Wix site for my partner who is a teacher
and writer. I have had a 15 year career in the field of Internet marketing, and stressed to John that having a branded Web site was important and necessary as he begins the process of finding an agent and publisher for his second novel Dodging and Burning.
John has received many compliments on his Wix site, and the inclusion on Wix's site has been incredible. Both John and I feel that this site is crucial to his success.
Why is having a Website important in your industry sector?
In this very competitive publishing market all writers need to be able or
willing to market their work. With the economy in its current state,
Publishing houses would like to spend less money marketing a book, so that
falls upon the author.
Wix is the perfect solution, because it is mostly a
free tool that is very easy to use (even for non-professional graphic
designers) and with the upgrade possibilities - like the Premium path we
chose - we are able to use our own URL, and Google Analytics to track
traffic and provide VALUABLE data to agents and publishers.
Do you feel it allows you to compete better/stand out?
Most 'create-your-own' Web site tools are both difficult and very limited in what can be created and published. I reviewed many different 'free' tools (or near free) which only confirmed the value and ease of Wix.
How did you hear about Wix?
I was introduced to wix.com from a visiting speaker during a class (I'm in
art school at the Corcoran College of Art + Design) where she showed samples of wix.com Web sites where students created portfolio sites for their work.
At that time I KNEW that wix.com would be an important tool for me in the
creation and promotion of my own art work, and for it's possibilities in
marketing efforts for John's upcoming novel.
What do you like best about Wix?
I not only like, but LOVE how easy Wix is to use. Most 'drag-and-drop'
software programs have some hidden headache that make it more like 'drag-and drop-dead' due to frustration. In the many hours of creating this Wix site, I never had any moment where the tools did not perform or function in the manner in which I thought they would. Editing is just as easy as creating. I think that I was most impressed that I was up and running and creating within minutes of visiting Wix.
How has Wix allowed you to enhance your marketing/web presence?
Everyone that has looked at www.jcopenhaver.com is wowed. Traffic to the
site has been incredible and we are using Google Analytics to monitor the
data so that we can fully understand what is valuable information and what
is 'not.' Begin able to send a URL to a potential agent is helpful in that
the site is inviting and lends itself to a clear click-path from start to
finish, and I think our stats have shown that almost every page is viewed on each visit.
In closing:
Wix is something that anyone - a business person, writer, artist should be
using. Self-promotion at zero cost is priceless.

I'm an entrepreneur with a MBA and a degree in mechanical engineering. I have over 17 years experience in product design and development of electronic devices. After being laid off from two jobs in an 18 month period I decided that I needed to be more proactive about my future. The recession has hit me pretty hard but Ive been able to bounce back.
I launched Inspiration2Innovation in the March of this year. The mission of the company is to help people innovate. It could be a person working in a large corporation like I once did or it could be an independent inventor working in their garage. Thomas Edison is a hero of mine. He said, "Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration." My goal is to help people go from inspiration to innovation with less perspiration.
I was inspired by the story of a man who got ripped off by a company promising to promote his invention. This company kept taking his money and never filed for a patent. Years later and out of money, this man gave up on his dream only to find out that someone else came along a few years later and patented his invention.
Often time people have great ideas but lack the education, skill, and experience to make it happen. I work with some inventors without any upfront money. I partner with them for a percentage of the licensing revenue we hope the invention will generate. I started a blog about the same time I launched the company, http://www.inventionaddict.com/ to help educate people about the inventing process.
Why is having a website important in your industry sector?
The internet is vital to just about ANY business today. If you don't have a website, you just lost part of your potential customer base. If you have a lame website, you lose even more people.
I'm in the business of creativity and innovation. I need a website that makes the reader say, "Wow, I want to contact this company. This is cool."
Wix lets me showcase a great deal of content with photos and graphics that you can't do with a non-flash based site. The sleek look and easy to navigate pages give the professional look I want without paying a web designer.
I heard about if from a friend of mine who's a missionary to Africa.
What I like best is that you can get stunning results without writing a single line of code. It's so easy to use and it's even fun.
I did not promote my company on my blog because I had a really lame website. Then I created my Wix site and made a formal announcement for my company and the new website I created. I had my first client the very same day!
I signed up for the premium service so I was able to keep my URL that already had good results in search engines. Wix has exceeded my expectations.
Wix is so easy to use that I plan to use Wix to create eBrochures for my clients to promote their inventions. Clients will be able to have a small website that acts as a multi-media brochure with pictures, graphics, and videos explaining their invention.
This will be used to pitch the invention to prospective companies for licensing. If a picture is worth a thousand works, then Wix is worth millions.

Having a dynamic and clean looking website is important for our business as it is a first impression of our company. We refer clients over the phone to check out what we do via the website, because selling audio products by just describing over the phone doesn't do our service justice. It is a very unique concept that we offer, and the visual tools that Wix has now presented us with is priceless.
The Wix creation definitely allows us to compete better in the marketplace by providing a professional looking webfront top our business. Our business is predominantly carried out via phone (as we don't need a storefront), and the tools that Wix provides allows us to look as good as the websites from multimillion dollar companies without the expense.
I was looking to see if there were some web designing programs out there that were easy to learn like Dreamweaver. Well Dreamweaver was hard for me to pickup and I need a quicker solution. Hiring a web designer was out of the question as the budget is tight so I searched for free flash websites and came across Wix in a web search. As soon as I read what Wix provided I shouted Eureka!
Having the ability to create your own flash site provides our company a sense of control to deliver our message the way we want, without the time and expense delays dealing with a web designer. It's user interface is perfect for new site developers like myself.
It will enable us to refer people more to our online presence, and allow us to begin marketing through social networks. I am excited to see what Google analytics will provide.
My business has had a substandard website for three years now. It was costly and the final presentation was usable but very difficult to navigate. As a communications professional seeking new opportunities, an online portfolio was essential to showcase and easily share examples of my extensive experience in print, interactive and broadcast media. I had created a profile on LinkedIn, which is invaluable for networking, but I also wanted a site that provided a visual overview of my expertise. In response to an unexpected request, I needed to build the site from scratch in less than a week. I searched for site builders on Google and came across Wix near the top of the results.
Impressed by the gallery of sites that had been built with Wix, the drag-and-drop editor and the promise that no technical skills were required, I signed up and scanned the template library for a suitable starting point. I wanted a design that was modern and elegant and I found exactly what I was looking for in the Photography section. The template was designed for a photographers portfolio but it was easy to see that it could also be used to display other work as well. Now, although I have supervised the design and production of many Websites, I am not a designer nor a developer. That said, as co-founder of a communication design agency, I do have a design aesthetic and that was all I needed to build my Wix site.
The site editor is easy-to-use. Yes, there was a learning curve, but I quickly figured out the basics and the more I worked with it the more flexibility I discovered. I had all of my materials ready beforehand -- text, photographs and project images -- and I built my site in four days. I spent another few hours making minor adjustments in response to suggestions from friends and colleagues but the updates were intuitive and instant. Wix is as user-friendly as Apples iMovie or iDVD -- its the Flash Website builder that Apple would design if Apple were to design a Flash Website builder.

In the IT industry, if you have an old or unattractive website, potential customers will be put off. It is a bit like going round to a plumbers house and finding all the taps leaking. Having a strong web presence and identity help to build your brand, quite often the first port of call for potential customers is to do a web search.
Wix has enabled us to have a dynamic and colourful site without all of the pain and expense usually associated with flash websites. We like the speed of producing a professional looking site, and anyone within the organisation can update it without having any programming background. Customers who go on the site like the look and feel, and have approached us to create website for them, so hopefully this avenue will grow and grow.

I'm the bookkeeper for Calvary Assembly of God. We are a church in the Assemblies of God family located in Lomita, CA.
Why is having a website important in your sector?
We felt that it was time for us to develop a website for anyone looking for a home church in our area. We hope to make people feel that they have already been here - and more comfortable to join us for service!
I saw an ad for Wix on Facebook.
Wix is so easy to use. I have NO website experience. When I was asked to take a shot at creating the website, I looked at a lot of programs and was quickly feeling that I was in way over my head. Most programs use programmer language. I had no idea what CSS and all those other acronyms meant. With Wix - I started creating right away!
We just launched our site.
We are not a very large church. There are many companies offering website creation for churches - but we didn't have $4000 to spend. Wix has made it possible for our church to have a site. We look forward to seeing the many upgrades coming and our site (and church) growing with Wix!
