New Teeth are a rock and roll dance band. Their formation began in the squalor and beer-stained hallways of a university residence in the Canadian capital. When guitarist Lucas MacKenzie met drummer Will Staunton, there was an profound connection forged between the two over a shared belief in the timeless power of rock and roll and countless bottles of cheap wine. The two decided to take a bite out of the Ottawa music scene, and thus New Teeth came to be. After playing around town with a ramshackle, revolving-door cast of characters, the duo found the missing piece in bassist Matthew Gilmour whose low-end talents flushed out the developing dance floor meets mosh-pit sound into a fully fledged rock and roll inferno.
Comparisons like 'Wolf-Parade meets Franz Ferdinand' and 'Red Hot Chili Peppers via Kings of Leon' have been used to describe the always evolving and highly electic approach these boys take to their craft. Paying homage to rock and roll legends such as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Queen, while immersing themselves in contemporary rock excellence such as Wolf Parade and Death From Above 1979, New Teeth aims to become a part of and further the ongoing history of rock and roll.
