Neon Streets
Exciter, Generator, Motor and Transformer.
So when I began planning out this months issue, I had that sense of panic about what to put in it, how do I make it worth reading, make people keep coming back. I imagine almost any one who is in the editors seat has felt it at one time or another, or perhaps every time they begin a new issue or episode of something.
I dont know. But what I do know is that when I get like that, I just get my head out into the world and think about what I would like to see or experience in the world. So this could be interpreted as a sort of blog I suppose, one that is filled with a heavily interactive and media filled center, and iced with some pretty design to keep you in the moment.
This webmag is supposed to be about the community. It is meant to be written by all of us, for everyone. It is a collection of things I have either found, been given, have done or experienced along side many of you.
So when I sat down to write this section this first time around, I had no major story to put in the magazine. I had pieces and parts, and clips of this and that. I had the interviews, because I like to ask people questions. I am always genuinely interested in how people get to where they are, and why they do what they do. So those tend to be the easy part of the issue.
The bands I cover are easy too. These people are generally quite talented at what they do, so with the right assortment of pictures, words, sounds and links, I can tell you a pretty good story about a band in just a page or two.
No, the hardest part is the main story. The bigger, meatier piece that I want to do in every issue. The Idea story, the one that makes you think, or gives you an experience you cant have yourself, or opens your eyes to something different.
So as I write this, it is July 27th. I am supposed to have this issue online by the 1st. And as of today, I still had no main story. I had some good ideas, which I may cover a little of here (and more of at a later date), but I just couldnt quite find my angle on them, they didnt feel right to me.
But then I came across a blog online, and having never followed a personal blog religiously before, decided to go to the back of the archives and begin with one at the beginning. You will read about the blog in a few pages, so I wont go into that at all, but I will however tell you that by accidentally stumbling across some guys blog, I found my feature story. If you want to call it a story. The story is actually played out on the blog pages you will be linked to, but I found my interest for the month at the very least.
I also Knew that I wanted to keep the idea of this free webmag going with as much free stuff as I can get people to experience, so you will find lots of free stuff in this issue. Staring with what I am calling a Blovel. You will also find quite a bit of free music that you can actually download and listen to any old time you feel like it.
So with that, I will let you go on and see what is on my mind this month.
