The North Carolina Central University Marchng Sound Machine is a prestigious organization and has been invited to many events based on the quality, and passion of performances. Most recently The Marching Sound Machine has peformed at the Tournament of Roses Parade.
Jorim E. Reid, graduated from Florida A&M University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in music education with piano as his major instrument. He later received his masters degree in music education from the Florida State University School of Music with oboe as his major instrument. Reid serves as marching coordinator, arranger, and drill designer for the North Carolina Central University Sound Machine Marching Band and director of both Wind Symphony and pep bands. Mr. Reid is also the advisor for the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.
Samuel Rowley is Assistant Director of Bands at North Carolina Central University. His responsibilities in the Department of Music include assisting with the administration of the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Pep Band, and Chamber Ensembles. Mr. Rowley also serves as the Chapter Advisor of the Zeta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education with honors from Florida A&M University, his Masters Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Instrumental conducting and is currently pursing a Doctorate degree in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City.
Lamon Lawhorn is Assistant Director of Bands at North Carolina Central University. His duties within the Department of Music included oversight of Marching Band Percussion, assisting with Percussion Ensemble, and other musical ensembles within the department. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Prairie View A&M University, the University of Mississippi, where he received his Master of Music Degree in Percussion Performance, currently he is attending University of Greensboro persuing doctoral studies. Mr. Lawhorn also serves the faculty advisor for the Rho Beta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
The objective of The Marching Sound Machine Booster Club is to increase the support and popularity of our common interest, regarding the growth and development of the NCCU Division of Bands. The goal of this organization is to attract more outstanding and dedicated NCCU alumni, band fans, and students, who wish to give their volunteer services and support, by assisting in the growth and development of the NCCU band program.

The Zeta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity Incorporated operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that is required of his/her band.
The Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority provides exceptional service to collegiate bands and promotes equality and diversity, including empowering women in the band profession. Tau Beta Sigma cultivates leadership, educational achievement, music appreciation and community development.
