Seeing the lack of natural hair knowledge in Tennessee, I set out to learn more about the physical and mental effects of chemically treated hair. Hello fellow naturals from all over! I propose to you a 100 Day Natural Hair Challenge for the 2012 new year! Why??? Well, What better way to start the new year than to set a goal? A simple goal. Not worrying about length checks. Not being concerned about chemical treatments. Just simply taking good care of your good hair. Starting any day in the first week of January, 1-7. Ending sometime the week of April 3-9.
What will you be using for 100 days, Jas?
I am choosing to use the Fantasia Naturals line (shampoo and 1-minute conditioner). I used it when I first went natural in January of 2009, and it worked great for me. With so many natural hair care lines out now, I kinda forgot about it. Hopefully it will do me justice like it did before! Also, grapeseed oil and aloe vera juice+water.
What regimine will work best for me?
You should know if your hair likes/dislikes shampoo. You should know if you need to co-wash daily. You will know if your hair needs moisturizing, clarifying, etc. These are the details needed to build a routine that you can stick to. I also suggest you buy a small planner/journal and really keep track of when you washed or deep conditoned and the effects it had on your hair; it will come in handy after the 100 days!
What should I do to prepare myself for 100 days of healthy hair care?
Now is the time to pick a staple product(s) that you will use for your 100 days. Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-Ins, Deep Conditioner, Hair Oils, etc. are some ideas to get you started. Remember, you don't have to get EVERYTHING! Just stuff you know you will use.
