November 3rd, 2011I'm taking the time as I wait for the final auction to end to update you. I apologize that it's been so long since the last update. I am overwhelmed and extremely happy to inform you that we have far exceeded our original goals. Funds will continue to be collected until the end of DecemberAugust 12th, 2011Our auctions are well underway. We've been busy at FTB headquarters trying to get everything organized for you and to provide you with some pretty special items. We've been lucky to have some generous philes donate some items to our cause and auctions. Take a peek at what's up for grabs now at http://myworld.ebay.ca/thepetriedishes. The rounds are 7 days long and a new one is posted immediately when the previous one ends. We post items to any place in the world. Our merchandise is still available at cafepress.com/FightTheBee and you can still purchase FTB bracelets from us directly. We will post our grand total of funds raised once all auction rounds have been completed. July 5th, 2011The two raffle items have been revealed. The first item (included in your event ticket purchase) is an "X-Files: I Want to Believe" DVD autographed by David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Frank Spotnitz, Billy Connolly, and Amanda Peet. The second item, you must purchase raffle tickets for this specific raffle, is the recently released "X-Files: Music by Mark Snow" special box set. You will be able to purchase extra raffle tickets at the event for $2/ticket. An itinerary of get togethers besides the screening has been e-mailed to those who have already purchased their tickets. If you haven't yet, please do so as soon as possible. May 30th, 2011If you are plannning on attending this event, be sure to purchase your ticket ahead of time. There will be a price increase at the doors. If you can't purchase tickets online, please contact us. May 23rd, 2011Our "Fight the Bee" bracelets have arrived! They've traveled a long way and are looking for a good home. Everyone who is attending the event will be receiving one. However, if you can't make it and want one, or you might want more than one, you can order them via PayPal. May 17th, 2011We are proud to officially launch our merchandise! You can purchase it at http://www.cafepress.ca/FightTheBeeApril 9th, 2011We have recently revealed some of the items that will be available during the auction this summer. We have plenty more but we're going to keep those a secret. We've designated the "Hilton Garden Inn (City Center)," the official hotel for the event. The hotel has reasonable prices and is perfectly located. Keep checking back for more information! We will be updating with more photos from the hospital by late April. March 17th, 2011The feedback so far has been extremely positive! It's been set up through PayPal that you can now purchase the tickets and you can do so through the "Event" page. If you know for sure that you will be attending, do so at your earliest convenience because space is limited. Wouldn't want to wait too long and miss out! If you have any questions, remember don't be shy! March 15th, 2011Finally, we can reveal what has been months in the making or should I say over a year in the making? It was tough to keep a secret and yes, some people got wind of it... wouldn't expect much different with a fandom like ours. It started out when two philes who realized they lived within hours of each other began discussing how amazing it would be to host a screening of one of the films. Doing it as a fundraiser didn't even occur to them at the time. It was only when they became roommates for a couple of months that they began to seriously talk about it and put things in motion. Several e-mails, phone calls, and visits to cinemas later, everything is in place. We are proud to present to you the "Fight the Future" 2011 screening which will be raising funds for the Lukla Hospital Foundation in Nepal. Hope to see you in July!

Our Cause

Niquille Pasang Hospital FoundationThe Lukla Hospital is located in the upper reaches of the Khumbu Valley at 2850m of altitude. The hospital aims to provide medical aide to the individuals who occupy the remote areas on the slopes of Everest. Did you know that Nepal's infantile and mother mortality rate is the third highest in the world? Did you also know that for every 100,000 births, 750 mothers die and 5,900 children die at birth or do not reach their first birthday. Since its inauguration in 2005, the hospital has been providing health care to the locals and is currently administered in country by Nepalese professionals. Fundings to keep the hospital functional come from the Niquille Pasang Foundation based in Switzerland.

In June of 1998, TV's best sci-fi partnership made its debut on the big screen. Relive the experience on the big screen and in stunning BluRay on July 9th, 2011. Join fellow philes and contribute to an excellent cause! Plenty of fun is to be had over the weekend. Please contact either Melanie or Patricia to RVSP and book your tickets today. A ticket of $30 (prices will go up to $40 at the door) will grant you access to all the weekend's festivities! Access to the screening, a raffle ticket, a silicone fundraiser bracelet, and the other special events planned over the weekend. Please keep in mind that we have rented the Carlton before their operating times so the film will be screened before 1PM during late morning. We advise that those who are travelling from out of town arrive a day or two earlier. We will be arranging accommodations for you and since several are bound to travel from outside the city, prices will decrease if you find a phile to room with! We do have some special things planned for Friday and Saturday night. Stay tuned!
