Seeking Caretaker...
Veasey Memorial Park, a 47-acre town-owned nature preserve and function facility is seeking a new caretaker.
In exchange for living in a comfortable apartment in a beautiful place, the caretaker will assume regular (20 hrs / week) part-time duties which include responsibilities for security, maintenance of the buildings and land, as well as acting as a landlord for on-site tenants. The candidate will become an integral part of a team of persons who help manage and support the facility.
The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for local history and nature, posses abilities to work with many types of individuals and organizations, assist with on-site functions & classes as needed, have good communications practices including routine use of e-mail, and have skills in a wide variety of areas such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscaping, and forestry.
Day-in and day-out, for the most part, the caretaker will be self-directed to care for areas requiring attention. An important aspect of this situation is maintenance of work logs for historical reference and management review.
Satisfactory personal and work references and background checks are a requirement for this situation.
