Start With Gratitude.
So, is that a loaded opening for my first blog post or what? Have I alienated anyone reading this who may be thinking, "This guy does not have a clue about what is going on in my life!" That is true, but writing from my own life experience, gratitude is underrated.
It is easy to remember the client who stood us up, made unreasonable requests, or lied about their situation and made us look bad. We play back scenarios in our heads and often end them with the witty, cutting responses we only wished we had made. It's disheartening behavior and so easy to fall into.
How often, though, do we remember the client with a geniune need who realizes that you are their partner and advocate and who does everything in their power to rnake the realtor -client relationship work? What about the client who calls you 8 months after closing and leaves a message with a referral? Do you callthem back, or do you plan to "do it later", and instead jump right on the phone and call the referral? Show gratitude, call the client, and thank them and listen. Listen to why they chose you, and what it is about their referral that makes them feel that you could help. Then remember. Remember all the great clients that are too easy to forget, call a couple just to see how they are, and thank them for who they are. You never know what reaching out to a good client can do.

Seven years ago, my family and I relocated from New York to Georgia . We wanted a change of lifestyIe. After running my own automotive repair business for 25 years with multiple locations, I was beginning to burn out. I wanted to get into something where I could bring customers happiness, not heavy bills. While still in NY, I took my extensive experience in customer service, sales and marketing and started in the mortgage business. I am having a great time. Giving people money to help fund their dreams, is a great way to earn a living. The opportunity to relocate to Georgia presented itself in 2003 and here I am. We, (me, my wife of over 20 years and my 3 children), are thriving here in Georgia. We enjoy hikes, and the ever-changing Georgia scenery. I'm active in my younger son's Boy Scout Troop as a trained leader and a merit badge counselor. On weekends you will find me in my woodworking shop, on a trail, visiting colleges for my oldest, or just being with the family. On the business side, I have been in the mortgage business - consistently as a top producer - for over 10 years. Closing the loan for a customer was never the end of the deal, it was the beginning of a relationship. I believe strongly in developing long term relationships with my clients, and referrals have always been my number one source of business. I have closed purchases and refi's for clients across the country using numerous lenders and programs. I have worked with realtors and learned what the top producers want -- more business! That's where this website comes in. As the industry changes, the top producers will have to offer a winning combination of technology and personal service. This website offers free information to help you market yourself using technology and time honored networking. Changes in the mortgage and real estate industries are of no surprise to any of you. Business is different now. Both realtors and lenders are reeling with ever-changing guidelines and culture. It's a more instant society. I've always enjoyed technology and have employed it in my business for years. Could you use more of it in yours to drive more clients your way? That's the purpose of this website.
