HISTORY
I prayerfully introduced Ms. Elsie’s Caribbean Bed & Breakfast to the community in September, 2000. We dedicated this home in honor of my grandmother, our matriarch, and my best friend, Ms. Elsie. God’s grace has blessed us with the love of a phenomenal woman, and I now find myself compelled to share this jewel of a woman, her love, legacy and our friendship with the world. Our story is special and our home is unique. Ms. Elsie’s Caribbean Bed & Breakfast is simply, a home born out of love between a grandmother and granddaughter.
The ambiance is serene, and it invites joy, peace, and love to the soul. Every guest in our Inn, has fallen in love with the spirit of the Inn, its history, and the intimacy. All come seeking a need to laugh, relax, rest, feel whole, feel connected, pampered, and nurtured, and we do it all very well at Ms. Elsie‘s.
Our guests can relax in the Generations room, where there is cable television, a large cushy sofa and chairs, or they can retreat to the Aloe Vera sunroom. All of our guests are welcome to retreat and relax in this beautifully spacious room where breakfast is also served, surrounded by large picture windows and elegant tropical décor. Guests may read, have moments of reflection, laugh, converse, listen to island music, dance, “do de’ limbo”, or play cards or board games. We invite you to make yourself comfortable and at home.
Ms. Elsie’s is a “Tropical Hideaway” that warmly welcomes and spoils you with island hospitality and delicious tropical treats, so that when it is time to go, you don’t want to leave us! - Cheryl Watkins, Inn Keeper
FAQs
1. What's the difference between staying at a hotel and staying at a bed and breakfast?
At a bed and breakfast, the owner/innkeeper will personally greet you, and each guest room is unique. As is the case at a hotel, you can come and go as you please. You will also receive maid service.
2. What meals will be served?
Our innkeeper will personally prepare a scrumptious hot breakfast, and if you have any dietary restrictions (salt-free, sugar-free, vegetarian, etc.), just let us know when you reserve your stay, and we'll be happy to accommodate you.
3. Can I check in late?
Our check-in time is from 4 pm to 8 pm. It's important to let us know what time you expect to arrive, and courteous to honor that. Unlike at a hotel, there is no front desk manned 24 hours at a small bed and breakfast. An innkeeper lives on the premises, and we can arrange for late check-ins in advance.
4. What do I need to bring with me? Toiletries, robe etc.
You should bring your own personal necessities, but we do supply soap, shampoo/conditioner, bubble bath and shower caps. Irons and hair dryers are also available. If you book our King Suite, our luxurious robes are included!
5. I'll be celebrating a special occasion when I come to visit. Are there any added touches you can provide?
We have a number of great packages, ranging from exquisitely designed fruit and/or floral arrangements, to spa treatment affiliations, to champagne or wine & cheese, to island pastries & delicate snacks. Just ask our Inn Keeper for suggestions and we'’ll be happy to accommodate you! As always, our barbados lemonade is always available!
6. Do you provide on-site parking?
Yes, we have parking on site, in a private driveway in front of the Inn.
7. Should I leave a tip for my innkeeper and/or chambermaid?
An 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. We suggest a token amount to your chambermaid of $5 per day. Any expression of kindness toward your innkeeper is appreciated. If you have received outstanding service, it is customary to leave a tip.
