About the Pageant
The Mrs. North Dakota America Pageant is the official State preliminary to the National Mrs. America Pageant. It is also a stage from which women in North Dakota can promote family values, women's causes and local charities. Many of the past competitors for the Mrs. North Dakota title have and continue to speak out on topics such as spending more time with our families, volunteering, building strong marriages, heart awareness, breast cancer education, domestic violence and even promoting women in business here in North Dakota.
Many of the ladies who enter the Mrs. North Dakota Pageant have never participated in a pageant, let alone won a pageant title. In general, the women who enter the Mrs. North Dakota Pageant have decided to do so for the personal growth opportunities acquired through the preparation for the pageant, the promotion of local community service efforts, and the making of new friends. This pageant encourages women to step out of their comfort zone, expand their horizons, accept who they really are as a woman, a wife and a family matriarch, gaining confidence, elegance and eloquence along the way.
Our mission is to encourage and support the women who understand that there is more to be gained in this competition by supporting and promoting their communities and family values than there is in simply competing for the crown, and our Judges are instructed to seek these same attributes. What this means is that the Judges are looking for confident, giving, dedicated, family oriented and articulate women. They are not asked to focus on age or length of marriage, and winners have ranged from 21 - 58+ years old, some with children and some without.
30 Year History of Mrs. America
The original Mrs. America Pageant began in 1938 and lasted for three decades before discontinuing in 1968. It was designed to select the ideal American homemaker. In 1977, David Marmel created his concept of the MRS. AMERICA PAGEANT with a focus on beauty and a sense of purpose by forming a new pageant organization to celebrate contemporary married women. Those who by this point in history had moved beyond the traditional roles and into defining their own paths. He established beauty as a key element in the competition. For more information on the Mrs. America Pageant, and highlights from this year's competition, check out the website at by clicking at the picture ...
David Marmel is also the President of Mrs. World, Inc.
