Our mission is to encourage each child’s mutual desire to explore the world, promote a positive self-image, to gain independence, and to propagate a love of others. Our goal is to help each child develop a positive outlook on life so that as an adult he will meet challenges with new solutions and have the courage and knowledge to constructively direct his future.
Today’s world has become so fast paced and competitive that it is more important than ever for our children to emerge as self-reliant, intelligent, and motivated people who will fully develop their potential. We know that children want to learn, so it is very important to teach them how to learn. More than any other approach, the Montessori philosophy considers the whole child and his place in the community. Our goal is the total development of the child- to prepare him for life.
Curriculum varies per age group.
Some learning categories the children explore on a typical day are:
arts and crafts
music and theater
science and nature
cooking and baking
manipulatives and math
reading and literature
hands on experiments
More than 40 years ago, Suzuki realized the implications of the fact that children the world over learn to speak their native language with ease. He began to apply the basic principles of language acquisition to the learning of music, and called his method the mother-tongue approach. The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, constant repetition, etc., are some of the special features of the Suzuki method.
About Our Music Teachers
Zandra Willoughby is our full-time music teacher. She has a music degree, sings, plays multiple instruments, and even writes songs for the children to sing and perform.
Ms. Zandra also offers piano and voice classes in the evenings.
Ms. Tracy has performed with Suzuki group in Sweden as well as with the Kansas City Civic Symphony. Private lessons or small group lessons are available twice a week.
15-30 minutes is $5.
Lessons are individually taught except for a once a month group class and an annual recital. If it is possible we recommend parents attend the lessons
