OMG,The Exams have finally arrived and you're wondering, "Where did those 13 weeks go?" You have a lot on your plate, balancing you social life, the gym, and partying and among other things that there isn't any time for studying. Well never fear we are here to teach the fine arts of cramming and rescue you from the pitfalls of failure (and by this we mean you'll scrape by with a pass because hey, were not miracle workers).
Write out a plan of your study schedule. Most will only have a week to study for your exam, so break down the material you need to cover those days. Having your plan written on paper will make it easier for you to manage your time.
You can write out study notes, but that takes a lot of time. If you really want to cover a wider range of topcs in a limited time frame, highlighting your text book and lecture notes is the best way to go.
Use different colors to help your brain associate the colors to a certain topic.
Ensure that your desk is clear of all clutter and you have all the materials you need within your reach. You need to be comfortable in your working environment in order to concentrate.
Read the beginning and end of each chapter of your text book. These sections give you an outline and summary of the key points covered in the chapter. Highlight these key points and review them later.

6 ~ MODEL UP
Use the course objectives and key points you gathered and turn them into questios. Then when you studied a couple of topics, have a go at answering your questions over and over. Repetition helps to make the information stick.
Now this does't mean that you should go and veg out in front of the T.V. Study for a couple of hours and take a 15 minute break in between. Get up, stretch your legs, go out for some fresh air and grab something to eat. Also remember to stay hydrated. Keep a bottle of water beside you. And get plenty of rest the night before. You are no good if you pass out from dehydration, hunger or exhaustion.
Social networking is highly addictive and can be very disruptive in your studies. If you find yourself checking your Facebook too frequently and you have no control from stopping yourself from doing so, you may need to suspend your account. Your exams are more important. Facebook will be waiting for you at the end of it all.
Everyone studies differently, so try to find a balance of study tips that are right for you.
A PROFESSIONAL MAKE-UP ARTIST OFFERS SOME ADVICE AND TIPS ON THAT ALL IMPORTANT EYE AREA
But before you start plucking, remember these important points:
When you have determined the shape you want to create, do the following:
Oh the perils of a dodgy pluck!
As a make-up artist I am frequently advising my clients on their eyebrows. too many people neglect this important area, when actually they should be using their eyebrows to help give definition to their faces.

3. THE CORRECT
MASCARA
2. FALSE EYLASHES
You need mascara that adds volume and length without ever looking cloggy. Never pump your mascara - i.e. putting the brush into the mascara and pushing it up and down vigorously. All this will do is create air which gets trapped in the mascara and thus makes it dry out a lot more quickly. Open the mascara, wipe the excess back in the tube, and apply.
Coat the top and bottom lashes of one eye and then place brush back into the mascara and repeat on the other side - remember
DO NOT PUMP IT!
If you want even more thickness, you can try false eyelashes. Everyone seems to be selling false eyelashes now, and personally I think they are all so simular. One thing I would recommend using a good glue. The glue that comes with the lashes isn't always strong enough and work we can't have those lashes falling in mid-air during an important photo shoo.t, now can we?
At work I use Duro Eyelash Glue, which come in clear or brown.
Plsce a small amount on the back of your hand and with the other end of a make-up brush apply a fine line of glue to the eyelashes, close to your own eyelashes, keeping youe eyes closed until the glue has dried. If the lashes still need some correcting, just peel the lash off and place it in the correct place - you shouldn't need any more glue as it should just re-stick.
1. EYELASH EXTENSIONS
Even though false eyelashes are great foe a night out, they can be troublesome. Something I have been advising my clients to try before they pose for those photos is eyelash extensions.
They are appkied individually between your own eyelashes. They come in different lengths, so you can have as natural or as thick and long as you prefer. They last about 2 months with follow-up care. Many beauty salons are doing these at the moment, and the prices range from about $75 to $110. The teatment can take up to two hours so you have to be patient! But the outcome is definately worth it.

Some modeling agencies are nothing more than con jobs designed to cheat aspiring models out of their hard-earned money.
Modeling agency scams lure their victims by advertising in local newspapers to encourage potential models, both men and women, to meet company representatives for group screenings. The ads usually state, "No fee."
At follow-up interviews, however, "selected" applicants are asked to sign a contract agreeing to participate in classes and to pay more than $1000 in advance for the photographs that are required before they can work as models.
A variation on this scam involves the modeling agency paying for everything but costs associated with the make-up artist, which will cost $500.00 for the day. Ouch.
In the end, most of the would-be models receive no photographs and no job leads. The companies simply pack up and leave town before it all hits the fan.
What are the warning signs?
Recognizing a modeling agency scam may not be easy. Many of the advertising claims made may sound perfectly reasonable. When you contact or meet with them, their practices may be similar to those used by legitimate modeling agencies. When you see a modeling agency ad, keep in mind that most modeling and acting agencies don't advertise. The mere fact that you are seeing an ad at all should make you suspicious. Below we've compiled a collection of the warning signs that can help you determine whether a modeling agency is crooked.
"A legitimate agency does not charge money to be a model. You may pay for some test pictures, but it won't be more than $300 for the entire shoot and everything." -- Joel Wilkenfeld, President, Next Model Management, New York

Modeling Agency Warning Signs
Below are some common lines you'll hear from talent agency scam artists. First see what they say and then we'll tell you what they're really saying.
"We're seeking people with your 'look' for acting and modeling."
These people are out looking for people because their income is based on commissions. So the more people they convince to "drop by" the office the better their chance of making money. This is a very generic line to use on someone and without some specifics you should be wary.
"Don't worry; you can always get your deposit back"
Sure it is. Only if you meet their incredibly restrictive rules. Never mind the fact that it's odd that you've even been asked to make a deposit in the first place.
"You must be selected specifically for our program. We only accept a few, very talented people into our program."
Remember what I said about commission sales? If you have money for the classes they will try to sell you, then you'll be accepted. This is not so much about talent. This is all about how much money they can get you to spend before you realize what a crock it is.
"If you're not accepted into our program, you will receive a refund, guaranteed."
Everyone with money is "accepted" into their program since that's the only thing that matters. Since everyone is taken, offering a refund is a bit of a joke. A joke on you.
"Our fees are too high? Not a problem. They can be paid back by working the great paying jobs we'll be getting for you."

Jose Maldonado
MODEL UP: Tell us...how did you get started in Photography?
Jose: I got started pretty much like a lot of people. When I was a kid and my uncle gave me my first camera to shoot everything and anything. then a couple years ago I decided to get more serious about it, and see how far it would take me.
MODEL UP: Why Glamour /Beauty? What other genres and styles interest you?
Jose: I like the challenge of creating something beautiful with the different looks, shapes, attitudes a model has to offer. I also like doing landscapes and portraits.
MODEL UP: What or who inspires you as a photographer?
Jose: I get my inspiration from my son, he inspires me to live life to the fullest and enjoy it.
MODEL UP ~ 15
" I actually had several prints purchased for publication!"
MODEL UP: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could?
Jose: Well theres a lot of great Photographers out there, and the challenge I guess would be who gets that next cover, but in reality it's better because youre always are gonna try harder and work harder to be better, I really wouldnt change a lot, maybe just for everyone to do their homework, and for people that say that Ill be there, will actually be there and that goes for anybody.
MODEL UP: Which equipment is essential for you as a glamour photographer, to capture your best shot, not counting your camera?
Jose: I shoot on location with Natural light so I guess you can say I use the sun and my Eyes!!
MODEL UP: Paid vs. TF* shoots What are your views and preferences?
Jose: Just like everyone... getting paid is always welcomed, TF shoots I use to practice something new, whether it be a new angle or something else.
MODEL UP: How would you best describe your personal style?
Jose: I dont really have one but I guess it would be my own style!
MODEL UP: What are your goals in photography?
Jose: To create great Images, Get Published.
16 ~ MODEL UP
"I love meeting new people and creating great images."
MODEL UP: Any other goals?
Jose: To be the best person I can be, and the best father I can be to my incredible son.
MODEL UP: What qualities should Models/MUAs/Stylists, etc have to work with you?
Jose: They should be creative, fun, and they should be on time.

"My first official shoot was for Playboy. "
20 ~ MODEL UP
I grew up in Michigan. When I was 24 I moved to Dallas and still living here now.
I didn't have a whole lot of time to think about modeling. My first official shoot was for Playboy. I was working for a photographer part-time and he said I should think about modeling. So I contacted a local glamour photog and we went from there.
MODEL UP ~ 21
I can't say my dad was all too thrilled about me shooting for Playboy, but that's a dad's job, right? Ha.
I was pretty much on my own when it came to support from family. It all happened so fast and I made many friends with other models and photographers so that was my support system.
Now that I'm a little older (ahem!) I would like to do more fitness style shoots. Of course I enjoy fine wine and great food so I'm not sure it's exactly possible.
I enjoy doing promo's (especially locally) and have found that's the most beneficial to the bank account.

"My other "job" is being a mommy. ;-) I have a one year old named Caiden."
My favorite photographer is Bruce Brandon. His images are breathtaking, yet exotic, sexy and tasteful all at the same time. That's true talent. He gives Victoria's Secret photog's a run for their money.
Things I love.....
My son, my husband, watching movies, Pinot Noir, traveling, the gym (well, the results of going to the gym more so than actually going), Napa Valley, reading....
Things I hate.....
Being bored.... I like to always be doing something. Karma, mornings, creeps.
24 ~ MODEL UP
MODEL UP ~ 25
My favorite thing about modeling are the images. I think it's the coolest thing to click with a photog and get amazing images. I look back at images from 5 years ago and think how far I've come and how different all of them are. There's so much creativity out there.... wish I could shoot everyday for a month straight around the world with all the best photog's..... what a trip that'd be!
I think most of the questions are focused to someone who might just be getting started. I've built quite a name in this industry. As far as money goes.... my rate's $1200/day.... so yes, I've made money over the last 5 years. :-)

Want free photography for your portfolio?
One of the most expensive expenses to becoming a model is getting modeling pictures for your portfolio. From having to buy the clothes and accessories to paying a photographer for the photo shoot, etc...
it can be very expensive to build your modeling portfolio when just starting out. Most aspiring and new models just starting out may not know that there are a few ways to get free modeling pictures for their modeling portfolio. That's right... completely free. To learn more about how to get free modeling pictures, read the article steps below.
One way to get free modeling pictures for you portfolio is to look through photography message boards for photographers who are looking to shoot models on a time for print (TFP) basis. There are lots of amateur and new photographers just starting out and looking to shoot models on a time for print basis, in order to build up their portfolio. Therefore, in exchange for a model's time, a photographer will shoot a model for free and will give them free modeling pictures to use for the model's portfolio as well. Look through a few of the messages on the photography message board, and reply to a photographer that you may be interested in working with. Before deciding to shoot with a photographer on a time for print basis, you should definitely ask for references if the
photographer has photographed other models and you should be sure to take someone with you as a safety precaution.
One other way to get free modeling pictures for your portfolio is to contact photography schools or schools with a photography department. Ask if you can speak to a photography instructor to ask them if they need any models to pose during their photography classes. Many photography students, especially those taking fashion, portrait and wedding classes, will need live models to photograph in order to practice.
