Cosmic Creates Mural for New Studio
Here at M-MAD we felt that our new community media studio in Newport Industrial Estate in Launceston needed something to give it that extra special edge. So we commissioned Cornish artist Cosmic - who specialises in in-situ image making closely related to urban and street art - to work alongside young people here on M-MAD's foundation learning programme to conceive and create a mural to envliven our new reception area. The finished article is poppy flower with all the activities of M-MAD eminating from its centre. This time-lapse video condense the project - which took a day and half - into a digestable 3 minutes! M-MAD's studio expands!
After moving into our new Community Media Studio we've now taken on the previously vacant neighbouring unit to create two brand new workspaces.
The refurbishment provides M-MAD with 'breakout area' and a new muti-purpose workspace for filming, music rehearsal and recording and workshops. The space offers huge versatility and will be also be available for hire by outside organisations as well as for young people on M-MAD's Foundation Learning programme.

FREESTYLE & FOUNDATION LEARNING
Digitial Media Training for Young People aged 16-19
M-MAD is a registered provider of the Freestyle Foundation Learning and Targeted Youth Support programmes. We offer young people the chance to explore their own creativity using a variety of digital media including music and audio production, film-making, photography, graphic deisgn and games design.
The Freestyle course is 12 weeeks with the option of involving yourself in the Foundation Learning programme which can last up to 36 weeks in total.
Young people are able to gain National open College Network (NOCN) qualifications to Level 1 Diploma in Social and Creative Development using Digital Media as well as Arts Award qualifications.
You can try out different creative areas, discover your talents and to use these towards new employment opportunties and further education.

Community Projects OTHER PROJECTS
M-MAD has a long track record of running projects and initiatives with the local community that strive to empower isolated and disadvantaged groups through creativity and digital media. Current projects include:
ENTERPRISE & ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Running until October 2011, this project helps and support the young people to discover, explore and develop the skills and interests they have to enable them to feel more confident, develop their self esteem and provide new ways of looking at their career pathway.
"it's been great to see just how diverse and creative people have been with this project." commented Project Co-ordinator Hannah Adgopul. "I think it will be the start of lots of new opportuities for those involved".
ENZYME
ENSYME (Environmental and Social Young Media Entreprenuers) is a long term project designed to help 16-25 year olds in East Cornwall to develop creative, and professional skills in digital media. The project will help young people to access equipment, training and work experience with a view to progressing to employment or futher education in digital media; fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship in the sector. The digital world will play an increasingly prominent role in Britain's future economy and young people - who are often already media savvy - need support to turn their skills and interests into jobs and businesses.
