ABOUT ME/ ARCH 101
ALL ABOUT ME
My name is Meredith Lenti and currently I am a freshman in the architecture program at Clemson University. I grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina and my family has always been a fan of Clemson. I became interested in Clemson’s architecture program because I found it to be focused on a lot of conceptual themes instead of technical based. I love art and I love to create art so the conceptual and design aspects of architecture sparked my interest in this major. In the future I also want to use my skills as an architect to help with mission work. I aim to do a lot of overseas work with third world countries if I can get the opportunity to do so. I specifically want to build homes or hospitals in these underdeveloped areas.
ABOUT ARCHITECTURE 101
The purpose of this course is to introduce University students to the discipline and profession of architecture. In order to achieve that goal, we will be looking at the history of architecture, the significance of the built environment, and the meaning the built environment. We will discuss what defines architecture, what influences architecture and what architecture influences. We will emphasize the relationship between architecture and other disciplines as well as across cultures. At the end of the semester each student should be able to define key terms such as ARCHITECTURE and ARCHITECT as well as associate specific values they hold relative to these terms.
