Gift Central Station is the promotion of the Downtown Meadville businesses this Holiday Season and will be sponsored by Make It Meadville!!

Yellow Ribbons
Please contact MIM promotions chair Kay Coches to order the Stryker "Yellow Ribbon" for display on poles. Kathy (Loeffler's) will be making them for MIM - cost $3 ASAP so we can have them displayed for the week of Sept 14th!!
Alice (Market House) will be hosting the first meeting for those who would like to volunteer for the Scarecrow Fest on Wed. Sept. 16, _ 3 PM _ the Market House.

Shop & Drop will be held this year Oct. 19 thru the 24th. "Help Keep Them Warm This Winter!" Participating merchants will be collecting coats and outerwear for
Seniors and children.
Info on basket for Visitor's Bureau that was at the County Fair will be available at the next MIM Meeting
Halloween Parade - "Hitch Up Your Wagons-It's a Wild West Parade" Make It Meadville will have a float this year in the parade thanks to Ron from Chipper's Pub. More info _ the next MIM meeting on Sept. 10th.
Downtown Meadville's first Octoberfest will be held on October 31, 2 pm till 5 pm. More info at Sept. 10th meeting.

Make It Downtown Event brochure - Will be ready for distribution the week prior to " Thunder In The City". Ryan Cole is finalizing the brochure.

Crawford County Fair - Aug.22 thru Aug. 29
Merchants or volunteers who will be at the fair are encouraged to distribute the This Is Our Town brochure. To order brochures please contact Kay by email.
Scarecrowfest and Halloween Parade - the Scarecrowfest is to be held from Oct. 19 thru the 31st. Please contact Alice _ the Market House, she will be the chairperson for this event. Merchants participating in the Parade are encouraged to place a Make It Meadville or First Friday sign on thier entry. A great way to get the word out and invite people to visit the city !!!

Our first Make It Meadville Holiday Reception will take place Thursday, December 10th at the Downtown Mall. Food and beverages will be served. Stop by for conversation, we have had and exciting year. 2009 is ending with good news! There 8 new businesses in Downtown Meadville. Renovations to exsisting businesses are taking place. Make it Meadville is sponsoring the Gift Central Station, the promotion of Downtown businesses during the Holiday Season and the 4th Annual Cookie Bake Off. Make It Meadville will be giving $25 Gift baskets to the 2 winners with donations from the downtown businesses. Santa will announce the winners on the New Light Up Nite, First Friday December 4th. The Park Theater Mural is now on the _ the bank building and the Park Cinema has had its Grand Opening. Congratulations _ the bank on thier 4 year Anniversary in downtown Meadville. They are celebrating with new businesses and a new look too. We have a lot to talk about mark your calender Thursday Dec.10, 5 pm till 7:30 pm.
Don't forget there will be no MIM promotions committee meetings untill Thursday January 14, 2010 unless a special meeting is needed. There is no First Friday in January due to New Years Day being on Friday Jan. 1

I have called for a SPECIAL MEETING on Thursday November 5th. We would like to put together a Very Unique Advertising Campaign for ALL THE downtown businesses to promote the upcoming Holiday Gift season . It is also exciting to see the new businesses and Great Gift giving products and services now available in the downtown business district.

First Friday , October 2nd included Meadville's First Art Walk. Tim Kirk (Fine Arts Print) is chairing this event and hopes to continue this event with featured artists from Meadville and surrounding area.
Scarecrow Festival begins on October 17th. Alice (Market House Master) will be hosting the next committee meeting Wed. October 7th _ the Market House Grille _ 3:00 PM. A reminder email will be sent. Pumpkin painting and Barbecue, scarecrow building and lots of fun! Updates to follow at the next MIM promotions meeting October 8th at 8 AM. Stop in at 940 Park Ave and have a cup of coffee with us as we discuss out upcoming Autumn events.

Unfortunately I was not able to get around to all the shops to pick up monies for the buttons on First Friday. Those merchants who would like to drop of the envelopes _ the bank and put it to my attention are more than welcome to do so or bring the envelope w/you when you attend the next MIM meeting. Otherwise I will be out next Friday, the 11th to get the envelopes. I am planning to have at the next MIM meeting on Sept.10th some totals for everyone concerning the Downtown events that occurred during Thunder in the City and the button fundraiser and the basket at the Fair.
It has been an exciting Summer! Let's Keep Up the Enthusiasm as we head into the Fall season!

To All the participating merchants at the downtown events for Thunder In The City! The Make It Meadville promotions committee sincerely appreciates all the hard work and expense invested by the local merchants in producing this event. We heard lots of compliments and great suggestions from the customers and visitors on what else we can do in Making Meadville a great place to work, shop and reside! Yes, we will continue this event next year, showcasing the downtown and Johnnie's Drive In.
The Visitor's Bureau has invited Make It Meadville to display a basket at the County Fair this year. This is a great advertising investment for the coming HOLIDAY Shopping season! We invite the downtown merchants to contribute a coupon or small item that will fill the basket as we continue to promote Make It Meadville for the Holidays!
We Welcome Park Avenue Cinema - opening in SEPTEMBER. Congrats to Nancy Manning, Manager!

The Make It Downtown Meadville Event committee has worked hard to present a fun filled day and nite for the August 15th Thunder In The City Event. Over 20 merchants and businesses have donated thier products, time and effort along Chestnut St., Market St., The Downtown Mall and Park Ave. Thank you again! Makeitmeadville.com will have a special page w/ a list of Thunder In the City Events and times. Make It Downtown Meadville Events will also have a list of businesses, location and times of Events available on this site prior to the event. You will able to view the schedules by clicking on the August 15 on the monthly calender page. Updates are presently being added as we recieve the information.
The MIM Downtown Event committee would also like to thank the Erie Times, Meadville Trib, Forever Broadcasting, Chamber, Allegheny College and all the sponsors.
A special Thank you to Cindy _ the Market House Grille for donating her resturant for meetings and Alice for organizing the 2nd Annual Johnnie's Drive In. Linda from The Pit Stop for organizing the evening activies. Tom Collard for his time and effort in keeping the communication channel up and running!! Ryan Cole for all the meetings he attended too! Congratulations to all the volunteers who are working to promote the Downtown events for Thunder In The City on August 15. Make It Meadville has had an overwhelming response in participation from downtown merchants. Please remember to return your form describing what activites you will be planning for the day. We want to include all the businesses participating in the Downtown Events brochure to be distributed prior to and during this August 15th event! We look forward to making this a Super event in downtown Meadville.
I will be ordering more I Luv Meadville buttons. They will be ready for distribution August 3rd, just in time for First Friday August 7th!

Make It Meadville, Allegheny College and the Crawford County Chamber of Commerce are partnering to produce the Thunder in the City event. This is an all day event on August 15, 2009 in downtown Meadville. It is exciting to
see the many talented merchants and restaurant owners combine efforts with the college and create a one of a kind event. A big Thank You to all participants!
A schedule, location of events, and the parking locations will be posted prior to this event on makeitmeadville.com.
