Where Are They Now?
Rasaan "Talu" Green: Attended the CHYC's music program where he studied theory and trumpet under the direction of the late Mr. Obasala Brown and received private instruction by Mr. Mark Meredith. Talu received djembe instruction from various instructors, while he was student at The Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy. He made his first stage debut at the age of 5 when he drummed for Visions in Peace at Dance Africa. Since graduating from The Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy, Talu received his BA degree in Music from Long Island University at the age of 18 with honors, and is currently lead djembe performer in the Broadway Musical FELA. Talu is still very active in the organization and provides drum instruction to students in the After-School and Project Excell program. Brenda Adjei: Brenda attended the CHYC's afterschool program and worked for the organization's Summer Academy. She grew up in the Crown Heights community, and has been devoted to making a strong impact in the public administration and heath field. Brenda received her BS from SUNY Stony Brook, her MS in Public Administration from NYU, and her PhD from Columbia University. Brenda currently works for The National Cancer Institute.Adero-Zaire GreenAdero-Zaire attending CHYC's Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy, where she was the first graduate at the age of 16. Adero-Zaire grew up in the Brooklyn area, and as a child was active in all of the youth programs that CHYC provided. Adero-Zaire received her BA in English from St. Francis College, her MA in English Education from NYU, and is currently a doctoral student at Fordham University. After grad school, Ms. Green taught English at The Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy, and also designed the curriculum guide for the insitution. She is currently a professor of English for The City University of New York, and also the Director for CHYC's Project Excell Program.

Adero-Zaire Green

Assantwa N. Green
Attended the Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy. She was also a part of CHYC's rites of passage program, Visions in Peace, and The Universal Art Institute. Assantwa received her BA in English from St. Francis College and her M.A. in Dance Education from NYU. During her tenure with The CHYC, Ms. Green has taught Dance and English lit at the Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy. She also taught dance for the CHYC's partner program "21st Century Leadership" program, which was housed at Clara Barton High School. Ms. Green is currently the head dance instructor at East New York Elementary School, and teaches dance for Project Excell.
Amenawon Green:
Amenawon Green is a native of Brooklyn. She attended The Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy, where her love for healing and serving the people started. This motivated her to receive a B.S. degree and MS degree in Sports Medicine from Long Island University. Amenawon was also very active in assisting with the Peace Games of the CHYC, which broadened her career in the sports field. She has worked for the Athletic Department of St. Francis College, and currently working for the Orthopedics division at Down State Hospital. Ms. Green serves on the Board of Directors for The Crown Heights Youth Collective.
Alyna Thompson:
Attended The Collective Fellowship and Peace Academy, The CHYC After-School program, athe rites of passage program, and various other programs within the organization. Alyna received her BA degree from St. Francis College, and her MA degree from The University of Pheonix. Alyna worked briefly in the Human Resources department at The Crown Heights Youth Collective. She is currently Human Resources Specialist for TIAA-CREF. Ms. Thompson also serves on the CHYC's board as Secretary.
