Our experienced Shaft Sinking Team has constructed a variety of shafts in the heart of cities around Australia. Projects carried out include the development of a shaft inside a heritage listed building, pipe jacking shafts and shaft rehabilitation. A particularly challenging and technical project was the development of an internal ventilation shaft 110 meters deep and 6 meters in diameter - fully concrete lined - in extremely poor ground conditions in the heart of Ballarat.

Perfect Shafts International offers many drilling services including drilling blast holes and ground stabilisation in sensitive areas. We have successfully completed numerous drilling projects throughout the country.

GREEN BREAK TECHNOLOGY (GBT) is based on a non-detonating chemical compound, enclosed in a cartridge, which reacts quickly when activated to produce a high volume of harmless gas, primarily consisting of nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapour.
When GBT cartridges are hermetically sealed in a hole, the gas creates pressure on the sides of the hole and produces tensile fracturing of the rock or concrete.
The direction of breaking can be controlled by the drilling pattern or by notching the holes. Green Break Non-Detonating Safety Power Cartridge facilitates sequential activation.
GBT is highly effective in splitting and breaking rocks and boulders, and in the demolition of reinforced concrete structures.
The convenience of operation and it's very low operating costs make GBT the obvious choice in rock breaking and demolition equipment.

Concord Mining, a North Queensland Mining company based 100 km north west of Charters Towers, became the first Australian site to trial Green Break Technology this week, with great success. PSI carried out the trial on the rom pad, breaking a variety of boulders ranging from two m3 to five m3. The highlight of the trial was a test of 300 grams of GBT in a five m3 rock to see the effects of overcharging a boulder. Further trial underground is ongoing at the site.

Green Break Technology are currently planning production of a new, smaller size of 20mm diameter cartridge, for which there is a large market demand. This is a very impressive development and will be very effective for a wide range of jobs.

Perfect Shafts have commenced rock breaking in inner-city Brisbane suburb Bardon, where Brisbane City Council have run into hard rock whilst sinking a shaft for tunnel boring on a sewage line. Cardox is being used to break the hard ignimbrite (Brisbane tuff rock).
Perfect Shafts International has started a new exploration tunnel in Papua New Guinea for Marengo Mining's Yandera Project. The Yandera Project, which comprises granted exploration licences, covers some 1,900 square kilometres and was the subject of intensive, drill based exploration programs during the 1970's by a number of companies, including Kennecott Copper and BHP.
