We originally became involved with alpacas when a neighbour asked if I would be interested in agisting his two wethers. My husband and I had always been intrigued by these gorgeous animals although we had never taken the plunge and purchased them ourselves. We felt it would be a wonderful idea so we set to making a suitable paddock and shelter, everything was built in such a way that if things didn't work out they could be used by my horses. We still weren't prepared to fully commit.
Our aim for Maple Park Alpacas is to create the dream alpaca... low micron, high crimp, amazing density and gentle trainable nature!
We currently have in our herd an amazing stud male with all the above statistics, 16 breeding females and 3 soon to be wethers.
With herd management our fleece is improving yearly. The future is looking very exciting!
