Michael Ramos Araizaga holds a B.A. Degree in Ethnohistory from Mexicos Escuela Nacional de Antropologia e Historia (National School of History and Anthropology). From 2001 to 2008 he worked in film programming for the Filmoteca UNAM (the Mexican National Universitys Film Archive) And in 2007, thanks to an award from the German Government he produced a documentary film about the Mayan Codex in collaboration with the Technische Universität Dresden.
In 2008, he was awarded a Fulbright-Garcia Robles grant to study a Master Degree in Moving Image Archive Studies at UCLA. Since then, he has conducted internships at the Wende Museum, the Academy Film Archive and the UCLA Film and Television Archive, where he has gained working experience in the preservation of different film formats from super 8 mm to 35 mm nitrate film.
He has ventured as experimental and documentary filmmaker and his works have been screened and selected in various film festivals. His interest in the field of film preservation and restoration are focused in improving the conditions of film, photographic and audiovisual holdings in the archives of Mexico and Latin-America.
In 2009, he was awarded the AMIA-Sony Pictures Scholarship for students wishing to pursue careers in moving image archiving.
Between 2009 and 2010 he directed a documentary film Cassandro, El Exotico and it was awarded with the Best Short Documentary prize at the Short Shorts Film Festival Mexico, also winner of an Honorary Mention for the Best Mexican Film prize in the Mix Mexico Film Festival. Cassandro has been screened in several other festivals in Mexico, USA and France.
In June 2010 Centro Vlady of Mexico City hosted a retrospective of Ramos Araizaga's experimental works.

A lucid view on an extraordinary character, recognized and loved or reviled by the crowd of wrestling fans. The documentary follows Cassandro in a moment on the hard work which is being an Exotico wrestler.
