Decide if you are going to purchase your beeswax finish from the store or are going to make it yourself. Either is fine.
#
Step 2
Follow the directions on the can of store-bought beeswax finish. Since this is a simple finish, few additional materials should be needed.
Step 3
Dip a clean paintbrush into a homemade beeswax finish. Allow excess to drain off.
Step 4
Paint the finish onto the wood, just as if it were a thick layer of paint.
Step 5
Allow the finish to remain on the wood for 30 minutes.
Step 6
Use a section of clean, soft cloth to wipe any remaining finish from the wood. Buff using the cloth and following the grain. This will help the finish soak deep into the wood.
Step 7
Reapply as many coats as desired, waiting at least 24 hours between coats.

Preserving our natural environment has always been important, but never more so than now! It is an issue that is becoming more and more relevent in each day in todays society. More and more people are finally realising the impact enviomnmental destruction is having on the planet.
As these issues are being addressed, more and more businesses are turning to the use of renuable-plantation, reclaimed and recycled materials. The word reclaimed does not mean inferior quality, but on the contrary. In fact, take a beam for example, salvaged from an old building. It has had many years to season and dry and the grain patterns the beam has may very well have more character than that of new stock. It is becoming increasingly hard to find special featured grain in newly sawn timber as the trees are being cut down at a much younger age.
When we see old growth forest being cut down, it tears us apart. Trees give us air-air gives us life.
50 trees are planted for each piece of furniture made by Michael Robinson Design.
These trees are not funded by income made from Michael Robinson Design.
We are pleased to be a member and supporter of Landcare Australia and organise tree plantings through acres of land.
Where possible we use recycled timbers. Most other timbers are sourced from fallen logs from paddocks on farms. Plantation timbers are also used.
A natural environment such as a rainforest is made up of creeks, rivers gullies and Flora and Fauna, Flora and Fauna that have evolved and grown to adjust to their environment and have established a balanced ecosystem in doing so. This is a process that has taken millions of years to achieve and the devistating thing is that it that it takes only one person, merely one minute too change that forever.
Not only has a tree of 200 years or more been lost but the creatures which lived with in an around it now too have been lost as their homes have been destroyed. Their whole eco-system has suddenly been changed.

To all those who visited Furnitex and Deoration and Design last week and viewed my furniture.
It was great that you visited the exhibition. Thank you all for your kind and inspiring words of encouragement. It has given me a real boost. Its good to know that people appreciate the effort I put into my work and for that I am very grateful.
Throughout the exhibition, many of you described my furniture as having perfect proportion and high quality. I appreciate this very much as proportion and quality are the main principles which I stand by when designing and making a piece of furniture.
Thanks again and I hope we will meet again some time in the future.
I'm fascinated by the natural character of timber and its formation.
I imagine, 'how can I apply design to it, to create a piece of furniture, a work of art, whilst maximising its potential and aesthetics and focusing on the functionality and practicality of its use'?
'Thus furniture with soul'.
It's proven that a finely designed and made piece of furniture made over a Century ago, cost around 10 pounds to the costomer. These days that same piece of furniture can fetch $1000 or more. That's a pretty good investment if you are the one selling it! This is the kind of funiture I like to design and make. Providing good quality craftsmanship and fine design that is going to last the test of time and not go out of style. It is furniture that people ae going to appreciate for a very long time, that they are going to pass down to their children and so on.
I am very conscious about the environment and realise that it can be so easily destroyed. That is why I use reclaimed materials wherever possible, and yes, I am only one manfacturer out of many, but every little bit we contribute counts.
Why use screws when traditional methods are so great. We use joinery such as Dove tails in draws, dowels and Mortice anTenons in Chair and table legs and frames and all table tops are joined using buiscuits or Dowels widening joints.

MAINTAINING Finises with Beez wax
Reapply Beez wax according to the rate of "wear and tear" your furniture receives. "You might wax the arms of a dining chair weekly, but the legs and stretchers only every 18 months."
To maintain a wax coat on your furniture, follow these tips:
* Dust weekly with a soft, dry, all-cotton cloth.
* Don't use polishes or oils over your coat of protective wax.
* Wipe up spills as soon as possible to prevent spotting
* Use coasters under glasses and vases, and pads or trivets under hot dishes.
* Reapply a coat of wax when you can no longer buff the coating to a shine.
