My name is Michael D. Elliott. I am an Independent Computer Technician for hire in the Greater Quad City Area of Iowa and Illinois.
How Long have you been in the computer industry?
I started first with BestBuy/GeekSquad back in 2003, but have been tinkering with computers since 1992. That's over 18 years of experience. Although the industry has been through several changes, my main focus has always been computer maintenance and personal training.
What sort of computers do you work on?
All types of computers, purchased from any shop, wholesaler or internet site. They include laptops, desktops, netbooks, media centers, etc. There is only one common denominator and that is they must run the Windows based Operating System. That is systems like Windows XP, Vista, 7, etc.
After purchasing a new computer there can be several days of disruption before a new computer is fully productive. Old documents need to be copied across; email and address book transferred; software needs to be installed and data copied over. In addition, there are important details like antivirus precautions, Internet hook-up and maybe network connections.

Normally worth hundreds of dollars in a business situation. The special price is actually $199 but you get a $100 credit if you use your old clunker (computer) as part payment. Actually any old computer qualifies as part payment.
You get all existing documents copied across from your old computer, existing Outlook/Outlook Express emails & address book transferred, email account setup, one business software package such as QuickBooks installed and data copied over and imported, all your general software such as Word & Excel loaded on your new computer, computer hooked up to the Internet, antivirus software loaded and updated.(1yr Infection Pro Membership included), and Favorites/Bookmarks copied from old computer.
You do not get more than one business software installation and networking. Networking is available for Microsoft products. These additional tasks are carried out at an hourly rate of $50. You will need to supply all CDs for general software such as Word & Excel. (Microsoft Office.), passwords and logins for your email, ADSL and Internet connections, any CDs for business software like QuickBooks, etc.
The Software supplied and installed for free are the latest version of Acrobat Reader, Open Office if needed.(So you can create and read Microsoft Word and Excel.) You dont need to purchase Microsoft Office, and a full 1yr Antivirus and Antispyware suite as part of the Infection Pro Membership.
Additional hardware and software can be supplied upon prior request. Hardware such as routers or software can be supplied with the installation as well.
