Photography is a passion that is eclipsed only by my love of adventure...and it was to document my adventures that I first explored photography. I bought my first camera with money from a morning paper-route....a little Kodak thing that used a film format that went out with the 8 track .
But it hooked me...I was fascinated by capturing moments in time, and of life, that are otherwise lost forever...events, scenes, facial expressions, and shades of light and colour.
Accepted into the University of British Columbia's Commerce program, I went off on a tangent...and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Frustrated by my technical photographic ignorance, the next year I enrolled at the Western Academy of Photography, and graduated with a Diploma in Professional Photography.
I'm trained in the use of small, medium, and large format cameras, as well as full studio work. I also take advantage of the digital world, with proficiency on Adobe Photoshop...but I'm a purist at heart. All my photographs are true to content.
Due to years spent traveling, my specialties are fine art, portraiture, architecture, landscapes, and wildlife.
I am based in Vancouver, Canada...
...but serve the global community.
Original Photography
All photography commissions are open to negotiation...it's not about the money, but it is about fair compensation.
Negotiated fees reflect my time, client budget, intended use, and potential remuneration of finished product.
All negatives and negative-equivalent digital files remain the property of the photographer unless otherwise negotiated.
Digital Retouching
Retouching work billed at an hourly basis,...in quarter-hour increments.
Copied files and scanned images remain the property of the client.
By the hour...
...my time is worth $80. Any assistants required are billed at 50% of my rate, and travel time is charged at 50% of our hourly.
...plus expenses...
Reprint Photography
Reprints are an economic alternative for your photo needs...when a generic image is all you want.
Negotiated fees reflect intended use and potential remuneration.
A photograph is a secret about a secret...
...the more it tells you, the less you know.
