École St. Pius X is a French Immersion K-6 school located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
We are a Catholic Community of Caring School with 189 students from 141 families. Our school opened as a French Immersion school in September of 1992.
St. Pius has a strong technology orientation. Each of our classrooms features at least one internet connection and interactive whiteboards and projectors are standard equipment in all classrooms. Teachers regularly engage in professional development activities in order to keep up with current trends in education and educational technology.
St. Pius also has a computer lab with up to date equipment and secure logins for all of our students.

Welcome to École St. Pius X
The school first opened in 1954 and reopened in 1992 as an Immersion school. We are blessed with an enthusiastic and dedicated staff of teachers and support personnel who work as a team to provide quality education to our students.
Our Catholic religious beliefs are the foundation of our school. Our days begin with prayer and we come together as a school community every month to celebrate our faith and following the liturgical calendar. We are a Catholic Community of Caring school that promotes the virtues: respect, caring, responsibility, trust, faith and family. We are involved in service projects, daily active living and we promote a healthy lifestyle.
Our main focus is for the students to acquire the French language while following the Alberta curriculum.
Our active School Council meets monthly. Educational and school matters are discussed, providing the opportunity for parental in-put. School Council is crucial in providing support for the special school activities planned each year. Our parents are invaluable volunteers in the school, supporting the teachers and the students. The partnership of home / school enable our students to reach their full potential.
Our school has an outstanding Schoolyard Naturalization Project consisting of a front garden for flowers, fruits and vegetables, a natural Alberta growth of trees, bushes, grasses and flowers and an outdoor amphitheatre as well as many areas within the school yard boundaries. Our students are very pro-active and through parental guidance, partnership with the Calgary Zoo and curriculum support, they are able to sustain this wonderful outdoor classroom.

École St. Pius X is now accepting registrations for the 2010 - 2011 school year. If you are interested in booking a school tour please contact the school at 403-500-2015.
The entry points into French Immersion at the elementary level are Kindergarten and Grade 1. The Calgary Catholic School District ensures busing is available for students wanting the French Immersion advantage.
Unlike a Francophone school, French Immersion schools are intended for students whose first language at home is not French.
