You bought a new camera and underwater camera housing suitable for your camera. You couldn't wait to go diving and shoot your first pictures, when you download your pictures to your computer you notice that the results aren't quite what you were expected. If so, don’t worry, many people had experience the same during the first time using their camera.

Tip # 1 Underwater Flashes & Strobes
Since water tends to absorb color and light, the deeper you go, the darker and bluer your images will turn out to be. In shallower water you lose the red and the orange colors, and in deeper water, you lose the yellow and green. How can you solve this? By using an artificial light source (Strobe)
The use of underwater strobes in all depths, during daylight and night dives, will improve the color in your underwater photographs.
Fantasea, Sea & Sea, Ikelite, offers a selection of excellent underwater strobes, specially designed for compact digital housings and SLR digital housings.

Tip # 2 Focus Light for your
Underwater Photo System
Compact digital cameras make use of an automatic focus mechanism which automatically identifies the subject and sets the camera's focus according to the distance between the lens and subject.
Since the system performs the required calculations based on the subject's contrast, such a failure is most likely in low light conditions, as during night dives, cave dives, deep dives, etc.
Focus lights were designed to better enable the camera's auto focus, especially in low light conditions, by adding contrast to the subject.
Focus lights can also serve as a primary or secondary night dive light.
Fantasea LED Focus Lights

sensor, which shuts the light off for a second whenever a flash
is fired, in order to prevent a hot spot in the image caused by
the beam of the light.

Tip # 3 Macro Lens for your
Considering the fact that macro photography is relatively easy to compose with respect to exposure, lighting and focus settings, it is often the most popular type of photography among beginner photographers.
Most compact digital cameras feature a minimum focus distance that enables sharp images only to a certain extent and within a certain distance from the subject.
"Wet" Macro lenses are accessory lenses that fit onto the housings lens port and can be installed and removed during the course of the dive.
