and friends of cozumel
Paradise Reef
Paradise Reef is actually two reefs, north and south. Paraiso North is near the shore and because of its shallow depth (30’) and slow currents, it is a great place for the beginners. Paradise South is just south of the International Pier and is just a bit deeper. Both sides have excellent visibility and are abundant with marine life!
Tormentos Reef
This reef is one of the best locations for underwater photography, Tormentos is rich with corals, sponges and seafans. The fish are friendly and easy to get close to.
Yucab Reef/Puntan Tunich
The next reef south of Tormentos is Yucab Reef. This is a great second dive, especially if you’re taking pictures or video. Depth ranges from 50-70 feet and the currents can sometimes be swift.
Keep your eyes open for the white spotted filefish.
The coral pinnacles are covered with sea fans, gorgonains and sea whips. Under the coral & sponge overhangs, will be awaiting your entourage of snappers, grunts and margates
San Francisco Reef
There is no shortage of marine life here, so bring your camera! The wall is filled with spectacular coral and brightly colored sponges. The fish variety is fantastic and most are quite easy to photograph.
Santa Rosa Wall
Massive richly colored sponges line the wall that drops off to infinity. This expansive reef is filled with huge coral mounds covered with giant sea fans and bright orange tube sponges. Currents sometimes run strong here and visibility is usually excellent.
Paso del Cedral
This reef bottoms out at about 60'. Because the currents are generally moderate to strong you'll find yourself close to the sand for most the dive so you won't get pulled away by the current.
Palancar reef and caves
Palancar is one of Cozumel’s most memorable reefs. The visibility is fantastic! Palancar Bricks is just the beginning of an almost three mile stretch of caves, canyons, overhangs and gardens.
Punta Sur/Colombia
This advanced dive begins at depths of 90’ and drops to the abyss. Much of your time can be spent inside the reef, exploring the many caves, caverns and overhangs that make up this magnificent site.
