Our New Team

BEST Robotics

This year the SST-cc students are participating in the BEST robotics competition. This competition's mission is to try to interest the students that participate to persue careers in things related to Science, Technology, and Math. Basically the most important things to learn now, in 21st century. Last year what this competition's robotic mission was based on malfunctioning devices. The students had to build a robot that would identify the malfunctioning and functioning items. Of course, in this case it was much simpler, the robot only had to identify different colors and different shapes. Based on our students this was a very challenging competition. Although this was difficult for them, they still managed to obtain 3rd place. This year's goal is to make it all the way to Nationals, of coiurse this is always our goal, but we will do our best to get there.

Our School

All of our teams's students attend at the same school, The School Of Science and Technology. The School of Science and Technology (SST-CC) is a charter school that obviously gives a lot of importance to science, and technology. Our school is a very good school for the students that wish to persue careers that may be difficult to persue at any other school. As you can see the average school does not offer the oppurtunities for the robotic activities that we are participating in now. Personally, I really enjoy this school, it has given me many oppurtunities that i had never even considered before. Our Community

Of course due to our interest in robotics, we are going to find a way to connect our research and studies to the community, and how we can help it. Last year we used our robot to help with the traffic, we prgrammed our robot to detect when students were crossing the street so that it would put up the stop sign to prevent the cars from running the kids over. We were thinking of doing something completly unrelated to this topic, but still something that will help our community keep its peaceful environment for our fellow students to learn without distractions.

Our job this year is to design a robot that can overcome difficult passways, this year's BEST Robotics Competition has decided to make the mission based on bugs ;how to keep them seperated by species, and how to keep them alive while doing so. Our robot is on its way, now that we have our ideas put together evenly, we are building on our ideas.

About BEST

All this is, is more information on THIS year's mission. This year's BEST Robotic's mission is reated to bugs,everything bugs; how to properly seperate them by species, how to feed them, and how to capture them. We aren't necessarily going to deal with real-live bugs, but we will make a research paper about the information about them. All of the things have to be done in the mission will be done by a robot, a robot that must be assembled by students. The robot must be assembled with the kits that the BEST Robotics Coordinators gave the team.

BEST Robotics has made their own website for all the questions that have to be asked, for all the problems that must be faced, and for many other reasons that the students are able to come up with. The website's name is BESTinc. www.BESTinc.org In the website written above you will find everything necessary to paricipate as well, or to simply keep tabs on what the students are doing. Our Team

We are a team receiving an education in the School of Science and Technology Corpus Christi. We decided to participate in a mind challenging competition, BEST Robotics.Our team is made up of five people, so far...Huseyin Demir, Jasson Lopez, Peter Castaneda, Matthew Mora, Alejandra Mena, And last but not least, our coach… our inspiration, the reason we are here... Mr. Rasulzada. Each of our jobs makes us unique, they bring us together, and neither of us could achieve anything without the other. Together we make up, The SST-CC Youth team. To the right is a document saying our names, showing our picture, and telling our jobs.

Robotics Job:This is will be my first experience in robotics tournament.I am electrical and mechanical engineer. Future Plans and Goals:When I grow up I want to graduate with high scores from one of the IVY universities. Robotics:This is my first year in robotics and I hope I am going to learn team work from this tournament and in the future I want to do my duties better when I am working with other people.

Robotics Jobs: This year in robotics my jobs are to be the electrical engineer, graphic designer, safety engineer, 3D designer, and presenter. Future Plans and Goals: I really enjoy all of my jobs because is something new to experience. My plans for my future are to get a degree on aeronautical engineering, and a want to learn how to fly a plane. Robotics: I have been in robotics for three years so far and I have like it more than anything SST has provided for me and my team mates.

Robotics Jobs: This year in BEST robotics my jobs are being commercial designer, 3d cut designer, and software engineer. Future plans and goals: I have a great desire of graduating from Harvard, what I will be is still a mystery to me, for I am interested in many things. But, one thing I know for sure, is that I will try to find a career that has robotics incorporated in them. Robotics: I've been in robotics for 3 years. I've been in robotics competitions including ECObot, Body Forward, and First Lego Leage (FLL).

SST 2010 BEST

The Mavens

The mavens is the name that was chosen once again for this team, because this was the name of our previous team. In the BEST robotics competition of 2010 the missions were very complicated, but The Mavens still managed to perservere. The Mavens were made up of six people, Cody Mora, Joshua Kewl, Yoseph M, Marcy Campos, Jordana, and Sierra Ponce. These six members worked together six weeks non-stop. All of this work definitely paid off, the team won 3rd place in the 2010 BEST robotics competition.

The Mavens was made up of all boys, eight to be exact. Their names are,Cody Mora, Salman Memon, Jonathan Campos, David, Austin Garcia, Jasson Lopez, and Yoseph M. Together these boys made up the very first BEST team in the School of Science and Technology. They worked very hard, and even though they didn't place, the School of Science and Technology is very proud of them for being the very first team we have ever had.
