Welcome !!
My Qualifications
I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University School of Forestry, with a degree in Forestry/Wildlife Management/ Ecological Engineering. I have over a decade of experience teaching science at the high school level and thirty years experience developing wildlife/cattle and aquatic management plans for the private sector. Currently over 150,000 acres of private lands in Texas are under management plans I developed or helped to develop. The techniques used to develop these plans are grounded in ecology, biology and environmental science. My web page background is a photo taken by me of the last ranch I managed along the Pecos River. I am a master falconer and integrate that science into the curriculum for my classes, giving my students a chance to touch and observe nature. I also currently serve as an advisor and member of the Milam County Museum board. I have had experience in implementing behavioral modification techniques for the Brown schools and Mary Lee Foundation, where I worked with teenagers who had severe emotional and behavioral problems.
I feel all of my life experiences provide my students with the unique advantage of having a teacher who has used the scientific method and cutting edge technology to solve real world problems. While my having a solid background in education and child psychology can also help them to become productive and respectful members of our great country. My goal is that every child who steps through my door will leave at the end of the year with a holistic and comprehensive knowledge of ecosystems and the environment as a whole. Along the way they will gain this knowledge by using technology as a tool for exploration, problem solving and the presentation of their ideas, while also experiencing and “touching” the natural world around them. I feel that the higher my expectations are, the more a student will rise to meet them. Bless all of you, and let’s make 2011- 2012 a year of achievement !!!!!!!
