The Kansas City Originals exists to promote dining in local independent area restaurants, to provide diners with a unique local flavor and to raise awareness of independent restaurants both locally and nationally.
Local restaurants like local bookstores, hardware stores, and coffee shops support their communities. The dollars spent in local restaurants stay in Kansas City and local restaurants support vital local charities. Passionate individuals develop local restaurants. These individuals are driven by a desire to offer something unique and exciting both to our local patrons and to the guests who visit our city.
The Kansas City Originals believe that a vibrant, independent restaurant community makes our city a better place to live. A vibrant local restaurant community increases a citys culinary and cultural strength. Kansas City is a city with a unique flavor, a flavor we can all be proud of. Local restaurants ensure that this local flavor continues to be delivered. It is our hope that you take a moment to think about this important issue and support all those things that make Kansas City unique, a source of pride and, above all, a great city to live in.

About the Kansas City Originals
Formally known as the Kansas City Independent Restaurant Association, the KC Originals are a membership organization made up of over 40 independently owned & operated restaurants in the KC metro area. In existence for more than 10 years their mission is to promote dining in local independent restaurants, to provide diners with a unique local flavor and to raise awareness of independent restaurants both locally and nationally.

DeLaSalle Education Center: Culinary Program
For nearly 40 years, DeLaSalle has developed and honed its program model on three primary ingredients for student success:
Academic classes that are small, rigorous and personalized;
Holistic support services that provide on-site interventions and address students' life barriers; and Workforce development training that is integrated into everyday learning.
Broadmoor Bistro
The Broadmoor Bistro is a student-run skills application by the students at Broadmoor Technical Center in Shawnee Mission School District. The Broadmoor Bistro has been in operation since fall of 2000 offering an evening dining event created and served by culinary arts students enrolled at Broadmoor Technical Center. Broadmoor Technical Center, located at 6701 W. 83rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas offers culinary arts and commercial baking instruction to students enrolled in Shawnee Mission School District high schools.
Junior and senior students from the district high schools enroll in year-long elective classes at Broadmoor Technical Center in their area of interest. Part of the culmination of the culinary arts instruction is the students skills application in the Broadmoor Bistro. Students create menus, cook, serve and run the Broadmoor Bistro.
DeLaSalle has received national recognition from the U. S. Department of Education and has assisted in the establishment of more than 70 alternative school programs throughout the country, including local programs at Alta Vista Education Center, Don Bosco Education Center and Seton Education Center. Since its incorporation in 1971, DeLaSalle has served over 12,000 students who would face an uncertain future without competent reading, math and employment skills.
The Bistro is a 2008 constructed 3,000 square foot addition to the Broadmoor Technical Center. A bakery, kitchen and classroom with auditorium seating and a full culinary display kitchen, about 4,700 sqft, were remodeled in 2007.

Terlato Winery Group incorporates several well-known vineyards & wineries in the Napa Valley region of CA. They have multiple properties that have on site accommodations. Winners can choose when they are visiting and the accommodations will be determined by date availability & guest needs.
VIP tours are possible at several of the wineries, to be selected in consult with the winners [up to 4 tours]. A box lunch will be provided at one of the sites visited each day.
Dinners provided will be in the form of two $200 gift cards [1 for each day] selected from several local Napa Valley eateries such as Rutherford Grill or Mustard's or others of similar quality & reputation.
