About the Mason County Emergency Worker Services
Polar Bear Plunge
The Polar Bear Plunge is held the first Saturday of February every year. Participants from local emergency service providers, including law enforcement, fire safety, and emergency medical response, and members of the community are sponsored to "take the plunge" into the icy cold waters of Hood Canal.
Each year, different emergency service providers are selected to receive the proceeds from the event. Visit the history page for information on which services have received funding from this event.
If you are interested in "taking the plunge", we ask that each participant raise a minimum of $25. Hot beverages and chowder are available for all participants. Prizes are awarded for the person who brings in the most money! You must be 18 years and older or have a parent/guardian approval to participate and be in good physical health. Donations received PRIOR TO February 4, 2012 count towards Top Fundraiser awards! All donations must be turned in to:
