After going to the 2009 EV Challenge with the "Prototype" Most of the original EV Team either graduated or moved away. McMichael did not compete in the EV Challenge in 2010 but still attended helping out Morehead High School. In 2011 a new EV Team was formed out of students from the higher level technology classes at our school. The new team here at McMichael took a new car and converted it within half of a school year and still managed to get the car to the EV Challenge. The EV Team got second place in Range, Autocross, Car design, and Troubleshooting. Overall it was a very successful year for the EV Team. Ever since the challenge we have been thinking of upgrading the car and we have been showing it off at car shows and local events. Next year we intend to take a improved version of our "Electric Fox" back to the challenge.

In 2009 the McMichael EV team attended its first EV Challenge with a diverse group of students skilled in many different areas. The car "The Prototype" was built by former McMichael students Michael Clark and Ben Fulp. Even though this was the first challenge our school had been to the EV Team still managed to bring home some trophies. They won the Rookie of the year award, 1st place in stock autocross, 3rd place in trouble shooting, and 2nd in oral presentation. The students on the EV Team consist of students who have taken fundementals of technology and transportation systems which are the technology courses that our school. After the success of "The Prototype" in EV Challenge '09 a new class was created called Advanced Technology Studies. This class is designed for students who want to learn about and create build a new electric vehicle.

The "Electric Fox" catches peoples eyes everwhere it goes but when its at shows like SVT Superfest or Mustang Week its a real crowd pleaser. How often do spectators get to see an Electric Mustang built by high school students? The EV Team has taken the car to a few mustang shows and we intend to take it to more in 2012. these show are always fun because we get to show off the car to fellow mustang lovers. We always have a lot of fun showing off how unique the car is at these events. To check out some of the websites where the car has been talked about click on the link below.

The EV Team has become well known around the community. We like to take the car to as many local car shows as possible, but we also like to take it to other local events like school events, football games, and festivals. Some of the local shows turn out to be very interesting like the time we were featured on Star News during the Reidsville Cruise-in.
