LABAL-S aka "LAB" is an independant American underground Hip-Hop Recording Artist from New Jersey, USA. His name is an acronym with many meanings but originaly translated as "Live And Be A Live Survivor". Its ultimately about being "label-less" in a world full of labrls, judgment & classism, and not only about surviving, but being "live" about how you live your life. Its more so a way of living than a catchy stage-name or MC name.
Though a true lover of all music, LAB quickly drew a strong connection and early inspiration from HIP-HOP and legends such as Rakim, LL, Public Enemy & Wu-Tang Clan. With a strange attraction to vocabulary from early in school and a deep aspiration to speak about knowledgeable or entertaining subject matter to an audience, LABAL- S would ultimately reach for a microphone and became obssessed with bringing his thoughts to reality, by creating and recording his own unique sound.
As the son of a struggling blues musician, LAB never really felt he had much of a singing voice so rapping was a perfect outlet to explore. As a die hard fan of hardcore east coast Hip-Hop music he was writing lyrics and freestyling as early as 1993, dabbling later in 4 tracks and mixers to record as a hobby, but hadn't SERIOUSLY begin recording songs until around 2006. He quickly realized he had to put himself in position to have complete control over all aspects of the recording process in order to truly explore his potential and experiment freely. Insuring he wouldnt have to rely on others, LAB aquired a few essential components to record independantly, and feverishly became entrenched in the song writing-composing , recording, engineering and mixing process ever since.
Sparing little time for shows or promotion, LAB is a virtual song recording machine. He has been dubbed "Dr. Murder Verses". The best part is that LAB or "DMV" truly feels he's just getting started. He has already recorded over 1000 songs, and collaborated with 100's of indep. , signed & unsigned acts and appeared on various albums, mixtape , EP's, LP's and misc. compilations. He has recorded songs with noteworthy artists such as Wu-Tang Clan's KILLAH PRIEST, SHABAZZ The Disciple, TIMBO KING, PACEWON, JOURNALIST, DIABOLIC, C-RAYZ WALZ, ALOE BLACC and many more!
LAB is also a member of the hardcore international Hip-Hop group BLOODY MONK CONSORTIUM on Johnny 23 Records, a USSRM affil. and member of LAW 27 (with DJ REEF & REAL LIFE)
