Welcome to my website. I hope that it can answer some of your introductory questions about who I am, what I do, and if my style of therapy may be a good fit for your unique issues. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Professor of Psychology, Human Growth and Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, Conjoint Family Therapy, and Family Systems Theory. My private practice is located in Riverside where I typically see individuals, couples, and families, specializing in non- marital breakups, LGBTQ relationships and issues, and technological impacts on relationships. I am certified in hypnosis and would be more then happy to work you regarding any number of issues through the use of trance, including pain management, anxiety, and depression to name a few. I believe that there are many ways to view and solve problems, and believe in a non-pathologizing, non-judgemental approach to therapy. My therapy sessions are set up as though it is an informal conversation where we each try to put our heads together and work out the best way for you to reach whatever goals you enter therapy hoping to achieve. I regularly appear ion News 4 Jax, First Coast News, and Fox Action News regarding a wide array of relationship issues, and I recently published my first book titled, Its Not Me, Its You! Getting over a break-up in the age of technology. I have been published in English, French, and Greek, and I am the founder of a program called the Dr. Matt Project which focuses on providing young adults with access to answers to some of the most challenging questions facing people today. I am the current President of the NE Florida Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, and the media director for the Bateson Idea Group; a 501.c3 focused on maintaining the wishes of Gregory Bateson and family regarding copyright concerns, and all issues of public domain on the subject of the work of Gregory Bateson.

There are many different methods that are used to reach the unconscious mind to invoke change. Each method has it's strengths, and it's weaknesses.Every person is different, so it stands to reason that the best results will be obtained by utilizing the methods that each person will respond to.

Ericksonian Hypnosis techniques work far better for most members of today's generation! This is because today people are taught to question everything, rather than just follow the flock. So these methods do work very well on people who are critical or analytical in their thinking processes.

With "Ericksonian Hypnosis," we use little stories, called metaphors, to present suggestions and ideas to the unconscious mind. This is a powerful and effective method, because it usually eliminates the blockage of and resistance to suggestions that is often caused by the conscious mind
