An avid music lover and appreciator of all earthly and spiritual things, is probably how Mason Bailey would describe himself to you. He embarked on his musical journey at the age of eight with his first piano lesson and this was to set him on his present course within the music industry. As he matured and practiced, he realized he had a natural talent and flare as a lyricist and composer.
Picking up the guitar at age 13, Bailey set to work putting music to his words and poetry for the first time. In time and as things began to click for him, he was asked to front the band Bonaphyd who enjoyed many years of great gigging and touring success even going on to open for the likes of Jimmies Chicken Shack and Jah Works.
The successes of Bonaphyd prompted Bailey to get out on the road as a solo performer. In 2007, he set to work writing and composing the songs that would be recorded and featured on his debut solo album. The inspiration would come from insight, experience, spirituality and love.
He found himself back in the studio once again in early 2008 laying the first tracks to what would later become his first debut album, Music On Words. Mason's journey as an energetic front-man in his college band years gave him the rock solid foundation to take Music On Words out on the road for its first promotional tour in late 2008. Thus far, he has performed solo gigs for a myriad of listeners up and down the East Coast out to California and even as far afield as Peru.
With recent kudos from Cindy Taylor on WTNJ 105.9FM LIVE, West Virginia, Bailey continues to have his music appreciated by an ever-expanding range of people from all walks of life. His ability to connect with the listener and have them relate to his songs is a measure of his talent as a songwriter and as a captivating solo performer.
Bailey believes that it's better to try something great and fail than to attempt nothing and prevail. It seems that this determination and love of music has kept Mason Bailey established and progressive in the music industry for some time.
Cindy Taylor (WTNJ, 105.9 FM, West Virginia) has fast become a fan of Baileys and said during a live radio interview with him recently:
All the music you have speaks through the heart. It's your music and has your stamp on it. Just getting to know you for less than an hour here I see your personality and how it blends with your music. You have a philosophical view on life but you also take life as it is. You just kind of point it out in that way through your music. I like that.
Describing the tone and inspiration of his new album Bailey says:
We came into this world with nothing and we are going to leave with nothing, so whatever we have while we're here is Just For Rent. Thats why I gave that song that title. The song Logic is about how thoughts can get in the way of relationships. I want to put across that in failure there is growth and in fear there is courage and to never let your past troubles keep you from a chance at loving another romantically or platonically.
Mason Bailey continues on his journey of music expression and success while making regular stops on the circuit to entertain his appreciative audiences all across the United States. The Music On Words promotional tour continues and is coming to a venue near you soon.
