General Event Information Packet Pick-up Information Race Day Schedule Awards After Race Event Parking Water and Safety

General Event InformationPin numbers on the front of your shirt or shorts.Portable restrooms and park restrooms will be avaiable near the starting line and at various pionts along the course.All participants in the Spooky Sprint event are encouraged to wear their halloween costumes during the event, as there will be a costume contest after the race is over.Participants may sign-up as individuals or as a part of a team.Runners and walkers are expected to take direction from all race officials. All proceeds from he 5k Spooky Sprint will go toward benefiting the West End Center for Youth.5k Race5k race participants must begin by 4:35 p.m.Please be cautious of the track and conscientious of other runners during the race.The cource will be clearly marked and any hazards will be posted.1 Mile Fun Run/Walk1 Mile Fun Run & Walk participants must begin by 4:05 p.m. !Well-trained animals on a leash are ONLY permitted in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk.The mile fun run/walk will also have a stroller division as part of its course.------------------------------------------------------------------------Packet Pick-up InformationYou may pick up your race packet at the event location which will be stationed at the River's Edge Sports Complex conccesion gazebo off of Wiley Drive on the day of the race from 3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. for the 1 Mile and from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. for the 5K. ------------------------------------------------------------------------Race Day Schedule3:00 p.m. - Same Day Registration Packet & T-shirt pick-up4:00 p.m. - Begin 1 Mile Fun Run & Walk4:30 p.m. - Begin 5k Race5:30 p.m. - Awards Ceremony Begins6:00 p.m. - Prize Winners Announced------------------------------------------------------------------------AwardsAwards will be given to the overall male and female finisher in the 5k race. Age group awards will also be given to 1st, 2nd, and– 3rd place male and female 5k race finishers in the following categories: 12 and under, 13-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. All children under 12 participating in the the 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk will receive a medal. There will be no duplication of awards.The will also be awards given for the best costumes in the following catagories: scariest, best duet, most creative use of materials, best pet costume, best impersonation, funniest, cutest/most adorable, costume requiring most explanation, best guy, best girl, and best overall.------------------------------------------------------------------------After Race EventThe after race event will include refreshments for participants, music, an awards ceremony, a kids play area, information tables, and raffle prizes.------------------------------------------------------------------------ParkingThere will be parking available in the Riverside Center parking garage off Reserve Avenue and in Crystal Spring parking garage between Evans Mill and McClanahan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------Water and SafetyWater will be available at the start and finish lines and also at water statioins along the course. Drink plenty of liquids before the race and do not run in the 5k race if you are not sufficiently trained. First aid personnel and race officials will monitor the course. If you find yourself in need of medical assistance during the race, contact a first aid person or race official and/or stop at a water station for help.

Early registration online will only be $20.00 for adults and $5.00 for children (12 & under). The Registration Fees will go up to $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for children (12 & under) on the day of

the event.

Course Information

1 Mile Fun Run/WalkThe 1 mile fun run/walk will begin at the start line in the Spooky Sprint event area located in South Roanoke Park near the River's Edge Sports Complex. The 1 mile fun run/walk will follow wiley drive down 1/2 mile and then turn around and return to the finish line within the Spooky Sprint event area.5k RaceThe 5k race will begin at the start line in the Spooky Sprint event area located in South Roanoke Park near the River's Edge Sports Complex. The participants of the 5k race will run along Wiley Drive and continue through Smith Park. The 5k participants will then follow Wiley Drive circling around Wasena Park and stay on Wiley Drive as they head back toward the finish line in the Spooky Sprint event area.
