Warfare Weapons
The Apostle Paul stated: "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God & we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Corinthians 10 : 4,5 )
Every Christian believer is involved in spiritual warfare. It is not a warfare of guns and bombs. As Paul stated in Ephesians 6:12, our fight is not with flesh and blood, with people, but with the host of demons that work to defile, destroy, harass, tempt and enslave mankind. There are several invaluable weapons that can be used to destroy the enemy, however powerful the enemy seem to be.
In spiritual warfare, against the power of darkness, God has given us powerful weaponry. The other side does not have, nor can they develop a defense strong enough to defend against our weapons. The indwelling Holy Spirit constantly gives us power and knowledge in the usage of our weaponry, as well as how to employ our defense tactics.
What Weapons Should Be Used?
Worship - silence the enemy ( praise & thanksgiving), "Out of the mouths of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of your enemies, that you may silence the enemy and the avenger." (Psalm 8:2). And Jesus said to them, "Yes, have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants you have perfected praise.'" (Matthew 21:16)
The Word of God overcomes the devil. Luke 4:1-13
Prayer and fasting - is not preparation for the battle, this is the battle. We are told to pray continually, so we should aim for it. Rom.12:12
The blood of Jesus, - confess what the blood of Jesus does for you. "They overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the lamb, by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their own lives unto death" (Revelation 12:13).
The above are the basic weapons that every believer should use against the enemy. The name of Jesus, the Power of Your Testimony, the Power of the Holy Spirit expressed through the Gifts of the Spirit, also should be included in your arsenal yet, faith is the important factor that is significant in the usage of these weapons; for without faith you cannot please God. Heb 11:6
To make these weapons effective, we need to be obedient to God and walk in holiness. Holiness, alone is a weapon that can destroy the enemy. Jesus won a great victory on the cross against the powers of darkness by being holy. The enemy cannot stand holiness for that is the true nature of God. Being holy brings power into our lives.
Since the Word of God commands us to give constant attention to the Word and to meditate on it night and day, (Proverbs 4:20-22; Joshua 1:8), it is clear that our praying should not be something separate from the Word, but rather, that God's Word should direct our praying.
Praying the Word includes quoting it and using it in our prayers. God responds to his own Word. It will not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11). We can take a promise from the Bible and using the words of Scripture pray as if we expect God to fulfill them personally. This is a powerful form of prayer.
