Gyotaku is a good alternative to taxidermy. Many boaters returning to land after a successful day of fishing choose to have a print made of their catch. An actual fish is carefully painted with non-toxic waterbased inks. Then delicate rice paper or fabric is pressed upon the specimen. When lifted, a detailed, mirror-image of the subject is revealed.
