About Class
Grades are calculated by dividing the total points earned by the total points possible. Students are graded on tests, quizzes, homework, and the math notebook.
Homework for a chapter is due no later than the day of the test for that chapter. Points for homework assignments are adjusted for each chapter so that homework is worth approximately 20% of the grade.
To receive full credit on book homework problems, work must be shown to justify the answer. Mr. Fishel will grade two (2) book homework problems at random, and determine what amount of work must be shown to receive full credit. There will be other assignments, such as worksheets.
GRADING CRITERIA (in percents)
A 90 - 100
B 80 - 89
C 70 - 79
D 60 - 69
F less than 60
•Come to class with a good attitude! I expect students to amaze themselves with their math excellence!
•Showing respect for everyone is expected.
•Bring needed materials to class: book, paper, pencil, and calculator.
•Please remain at your desk during class.
•Tardiness to class is defined as not being completely inside the classroom when the bell stops ringing, and is not acceptable for employment, or for school. A student tardy to class must obtain a pass from their appropriate Assistant Principal to be accepted into class.

Bio
My background is varied. I retired in 2004 from Caterpillar Inc. with 31 years of service. I spent 12 years working in the shop, 4 years as a production welder, and 8 years as a machine operator. As a welder, I fabricated very large weldments for off-highway trucks. My machining background included operating radial drills, multiple drills, mills, NC lathes and CNC machining centers. My last 19 years were spent in the office, as a Quality Assurance Planner, and a Design Engineer with responsibility for designing pneumatic systems, suspension systems, and steering control systems. I was also the Regulations Coordinator for small off-highway trucks, in which I was responsible for assuring our trucks met all regulations of different countries, especally that our product could legally receive the CE mark required by the European Union.
My background allows me to recount numerous real-life experiences that relate to the study of math or engineering.
