The Main Street Blues Band are one of the top blues bands to come out of Scotland in the last five years. The band play an exciting mix of up-tempo electric blues songs with a wide range of R 'n B influences.

The band has been performing around the Scottish and North of England Blues circuit for over 5 years and have developed an excellent reputation throughout the music circuit for putting on a top class, exciting and energetic live show.

The band is headed up by Derek on lead guitar and vocals. Derek has performed with the band since 2006 and has guested with many blues bands in Scotland over the last 4 years.

Derek plays Fender and Gibson guitars and uses Fender amplification. Strings by D'Addario

John has played with many top blues bands as well as playing in the backing band for many 60's and 70's artists.

John plays a Lakland 5 string bass and uses Mesa Boogie amplification.

Allan has worked with many touring bands and recorded and toured with Hobotalk for 6 years.

Allan plays Gretch drums.

about the band

Experience:

The band plays venues of all sizes from small pub gigs to larger music venues, including the HMV Picture House in Edinburgh with its 1,000 capacity. The Band regularly performe at many notable venues such as the Edinburgh Jam House, Edinburgh Jazz Bar, Glasgow Renfrew Ferry, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh and Regal Theatre in Bathgate. In addition, the band has appeared at many Jazz & Blues Festivals in Scotland including Fife, Darvel, Callander and Arbroath.

Influences:

Music played is drawn from a wide range of influences from the older blues legends such as BB King, Robert Johnson and Freddie King to more modern blues performers like Robben Ford, Sean Costello, John Hyatt and Robert Ward.

Set list:

Sets are selected from a wide repertoire of songs, normally performing two 45 minute sets, selected to suit the audience. Sets include songs such as:

Other information:

Main Street perform as a trio but can be augmented to a four piece with the addition of keyboards. The band use professional quality instruments and back line and, when required, can provide their own Mackie PA system.
