Max Spooner brings home a SPOONANA 1-2 finish in Australia
Max Spooner has taken the checkered flag in what was an eventful start to the Surrey Formula One World Championship in melbourne. Charles Jinman managed to come up from 6th place on the grid to third and was just able to take second after Jamie Cutteridge went off track after trying to overtake Max Spooner who had a gearbox problem. Further back down the grid Jenson Button was only able to come 13th despite the Brawns potential. Cheesey Royals had a bad afternoon as George Spooner crashed into the wall and the Dodge of Jessica Calvert going into the back of him. On a brighter note, Fred Jinman was able to to bring the sister Dodge in fifth despite the car being a back field runner. Sam Alston although not in points had beaten his team mate Fernando Alonso who suffered his lowest finnish ever at Renault. The teams now go on to Malaysia where it looks like it will be a fight between Brawn GP and SPOONANA for the championship and the other teams will try to take that fight to them too.
Button says mistakes cost him a good result
Jenson Button had a dismal race after only being able to finish 15th despite his team mate fighting for the win in the sister car. "the car is quick, you know we have the best engine and I knew that from testing. I was just caught up in the race with traffic and wasn't able to get through the pack". He also said his performance in qualifying was because he couldn't get grip in his tyres. He also went on to say that they will be fighting for the win in Malaysia.
