Introduction to art clay 1 Introduction to art clay silver
A relaxed and enjoyable day using art clay silver to make pretty pieces of jewellery. This course is suitable for complete beginners.
You will be shown how to handle the clay and use either texture sheets or natural textures to make patterns in the clay. The pieces will be dried and fired in the kiln. You will then learn how to finish them and add simple findings.

Textures in art clay Textures in art clay silver
A one day course where you will learn to use two different textures, one on each surface of the piece
You will construct a pendant by first choosing a texture, rolling out and cutting the main shape. You will learn how to add a constructed bail and add patterns to the other surface using paste or syringe. You will have the option of setting a small stone before drying, firing and finishing your piece.

Ring making Rings in art clay silver
A one day course for students who have a little experience with art clay silver (Introductory level).
You will learn how to construct a ring to a chosen size embellishing it and, if you wish, adding a fireable stone. After firing you will learn how to polish and finish your ring.

Introduction to enamel Introduction to enamel
Suitable for those who have some experience of art clay silver and wish to learn techniques for adding colourful enamel to their work.
You will learn about preparing the enamel and the surface of the piece, adding enamel using the technique of wet laying before drying it and firing in the kiln. You wil then learn the principles of finishing.

Cloisonne Introduction to cloisonne enamel
This is a historic and beautiful technique using thin silver wires to create cells into which enamel is applied. In this one day class you will learn the basic technique and make two small pendants or charms using fine silver round or oval blanks.

Embellish a silver bead Embellish a silver bead
Aimed at those interested in beading and with some experience of enamelling.
In this one day course you will learn how to prepared a sterling silver bead and then add fine silver wires to create cells on the surface. You will then learn how to apply the enamels to a curved 3D form and how to support the piece in the kiln before firing and finishing your bead.

Art Clay Certification level 1 Art Clay Certification
The certification courses are based on the curriculum developed in Japan by the DAC Creative Studios of Aida Chemical Industries. This ensures that your certification will be recognised worldwide. The certification courses have been planned carefully to assure a quality programme. There are two levels of certification; Level 1 and 2.

Level 1 Level 1
The Level 1 course consists of 7 projects and is taken over three or four days
At the end of the course you will have made 3 rings, 2 pendants a brooch and a pin or a brooch and a pair of earrings. This will give you a comprehensive understanding of the main types of art clay silver available -
650 Clay; Slow dry clay; Syringe and Paste types. You will learn how to attach findings, set stones, embellish your work and finish it to a high standard
This course can be taken either as 4 consecutive days or as four seperate days over a four week period.

Level 2 This is a course for students who have already successfully completed Level 1 Certification. It will build on your skills and projects include making a small fused glass cabuchon and constructing your piece around it, adding gold to the surface of your piece using the ancient Korean technique known as Keum Boo and an optional project using Gold clay.

Faux bone 1 Jewellery using Faux Bone™
Faux Bone™ is a versatile form of plastic that can be cut, carved, sawn, sanded, filed, drilled, stamped, riveted, inlayed, dyed, and painted. It can look like ivory, bone or ceramic. You can heat and bend it with a small embossing heat-gun. It is so strong you can rivet on it, die form right into it, or hammer metal around it.
