What is Lupus? Lupus is an autoimmune condition, which can affect any system of the body. In patients with lupus, the immune system produces antibodies, which attck our own organs. These autoantibodies cause inflammation and damage to our tissues. There is currently no cure for lupus, and medications available for treatment are very toxic.
Prevalence of Lupus Lupus is most common in women of child bearing ages (18-45). However, lupus strikes men and women under 15 and over 45 equally.
