Huge thanks to everyone who has purchased our EP Nerves of Steel so far. We are lucky enough to have the title track from the EP included on the wonderful FATEA Showcase Sessions download
http://www.fatea-showcase-sessions.co.uk/
It's free and there are a few other people we have gigged with on there including Dan Wilde :-). You don't get much for free these days either!
We also had a great time playing Bury St Edmunds Oxjam in October.
After a busy summer it is quite nice to have some time to write some more songs. Hopefully one might make it onto our setlist for our Cambridge gigs booked the weekend before Christmas with our friends Eureka Stokade, Aidy on the Saturday at The Portland Arms and The Treehouse on the Friday at The Cornerhouse. They should be great fun and it would be lovely to see you there.
Best Wishes

With a week to go before we release our new single "Nerves of Steel" in support of Refuge, especially with their latest 1 in 4 campaign, we have been so pleased with all the support we have received from local radio and national music magazines in promoting it. Bobs Folk Show on Radio Wey, CAM 105, Affinity Radio, STAR FM, BBC Radio Gloucester are already playing the track and BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and Suffolk have pledged support. We have interviews and sessions going out on STAR FM, Radio Cambridgeshire, Future Radio in Norwich and CAM 105 over the next few weeks as well.
On top of that we have received support from the Bury Free Press, FATEA, Rock'n'Reel, Maverick Magazine, Cambrige First and with our show with John Otway and Wild Willy Barret coming up on 23rd Aug at the Hidden Rooms the Cambridge Evening News will be giving the single a mention.
We want to raise as much money and awareness for Refuge as possible with this single which will be available as a download.

Please share it with as many people as you can. 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime in one or more of its many guises, it could happen to you, it could be happening to friends and family right now. You don't have to be hit to be abused. Silence is domestic violence's best friend, it enables it to continue. End the silence on domestic violence.

"Nerves of Steel" to be released to raise money for the Domestic Abuse charity Refuge
As a songwriter you have a voice. You can use it to express yourself. You can use it to raise awareness about important issues.
In July/August we are going to be releasing our track “Nerves of Steel” as a single to raise money for the women’s charity Refuge. The song is about courage and will be taken from our EP of the same title set for release late summer. All proceeds from the song will go to the charity.
Refuge offer support to women who are being, or have been, emotionally or physically abused by their partners, or former partners. They raise awareness about the warning signs to look out for in relationships and run campaigns to promote safe relationships. They encourage women to analyse their situation and help empower them to take action. They recognise that getting away from the abuse is just the beginning and offer support during the often lengthy recovery process. Their aim is to end domestic abuse. They state that they do not believe this will happen until the whole of society sees it as wrong and condemns it, holding the abuser responsible instead of blaming the victim.
According to Refuge, domestic abuse (physical or emotional) is the biggest issue facing women in Britain today with 1 in 4 experiencing it at some point in their lives. It crosses all boundaries of class and ethnicity. Horrifically physical abuse claims 2 lives a week.
Refuge’s website http://www.refuge.org.uk/ is very informative. It has a helpline if you think you, or anyone you know, may be in an abusive relationship.
The following is taken from their website:
" “It is essential that women receive the right education and information so they can understand the techniques of control frequently used by abusive men. It’s all too easy for women to excuse their partner’s possessive and jealous behaviour – but in so doing they run the risk of the abuse increasing in frequency and severity over time. By understanding the signs early a woman is forewarned and forearmed".” Sandra Horley – Refuge Chief Exec
Dani, 42, domestic survivor says: "“My ex was so charming at the start of our relationship that I felt very flattered by him. But after a short time the jealousy started, along with the mood swings where he readily switched from being charming to being abusive. I lived my life walking on egg shells. I experienced nearly all of the warning signs – I was very closely controlled, criticised and isolated from friends and family. I just didn’t realise that these were the warning signs, I didn’t recognise this as domestic violence. If I had known then what I know now, my life would have been quite different.” “"
We hope that by releasing this song we can help educate and raise awareness about domestic abuse and the charity Refuge and all the good work they do in promoting safe relationships and enabling women to get away and heal from abuse.
Domestic abuse may occur behind closed doors but everyone has a part to play in its eradication. Silence is not the answer, speaking out is.
We will also be releasing a video to accompany the song.
Refuge is fully supporting the release.
Help us spread the word.
