HISTORY ABOUT US
The sisters of Chi Delta Theta strive to promote sisterhood, community service, academics, cultural awareness, and social activity in the lives of its members. Together, our goals are to unite Asian clubs and organizations, to educate and enhance the learning of Asian culture, to encourage interaction between cultural fraternities and sororities, and to provide a support network for our members.ExpansionChi Delta Theta was officially established at the University of California at Santa Barbara on October 13, 1989, by Miss Alison Stripling and Miss Joanne Yamaoka. With nineteen founding members, Chi Delta Theta was the first Asian-American interest sorority recognized on campus. On February 3, 1992, ten founding mothers brought Chi Delta Theta to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Beta Chapter was established. On February 1, 1997, three determined women founded Chi Delta Theta at Loyola Marymount University and became Gamma Chapter on April 30, 1999. Soon after, on October 3, 1997, thirteen strong and devoted ladies brought Chi Delta Theta to California State University at Long Beach. They became Delta Chapter on May 22, 1999. On October 10, 1998, we expanded to University of California, Davis, who then became our Epsilon Chapter on April 30, 2000. These seven strong-willed women helped Chi Delta Theta expand to Northern California. On May 23, 2008, Zeta Colony was established at the University of California at Los Angeles by ten very dedicated young women. Chi Delta Theta Sorority became incorporated on November 13, 2001. Together, we all strive to create a support network for Asian-American women, as well as develop a special bond of sisterhood, loyalty, and commitment. Through the years, we have established ourselves as women dedicated to promoting friendship, communication, cultural awareness, and social activities. Even with the distance, our sisterhood and love has only grown stronger and deeper.
