I wasn't always Lucia, or was I? Born, Lindsay Marie Giovachino on April 26th in Plantation, Florida, I grew up in a hot wet swamp...well not exactly but pretty close- alligators were in my backyard and hurricanes always turned me on for some reason. ~ My family says I was singing before I could talk, which I believe because to this day I prefer a good melody that is universal to words which only attempt to point at the ineffable. With that being said, even though I've always been a singer that is not all I've been. ~ I've worn many different hats, tried them all on, experimented with them, and then taken a little piece of all of them and put them into me and into my music. My dad is a huge Beatles fan so I grew up having brunch to Strawberry Fields, where nothing is real. My grandmother played organ in church and would enlist me to sing a hymn or two on my summer vacations, while testing me on my piano knowledge on the side. My mother would drink late at night, smoking, and writing songs on the piano while drawing inspiration from Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, and my most vivid memory is her belting it out to Alannah Myles "Black Velvet." All of these wonderful different infuences in my life. ~ To this day I am still being inspired by everyone I meet in some way knowing that each person has something special and different to offer, something about them that is unique and worth getting to know. The name Lucia was given to me by a wonderful Italian friend- Cesare. I am so thankful for all that have made their mark on my life.
